It's that time in the build to tear it all apart to start building it back up. Pulled the body, bed, motor, trans, TC and axles to finish all the welding and added a new rear crossmember. Primer and enamel chassis paint and re assembled.

Not to bad for AJ and I w/ a sixer of Corona and 6 hours of work.

Also, @indycole stopped by for a break on his trip back from Portland with his new offroad trailer. Good to see you again buddy.

I'm OFF!!!! BEER AND BASEBALL TIME!

All the easy stuff is almost done... now onto the technical and tedious crap......

I’m the complete opposite. I am looking forward to the wiring and fine tuning on my build. I’m been stuck on body mount fabrication for weeks. I need a lift bad or a second person to always be at the ready for when I need to remove the body out of the way.

I don't see a boost guage

Yeah, still on the fence. I'm going to key the crank next weekend just in case while it is easily accessible.. Not sure on the Whipple. It'll be a last minute add-on. The 4L65e Level 2 will need to be upgraded pretty quickly as well. It won't take ~~580 RHP/ 520 FT# for very long.... HA.

Mainly depends if I want to CA register or not. If so... the Whipple is OUT.

Looks great!

On the registration - I don't know this as fact, but was told by CA DMV that if a vehicle that was given a BAR smog number, is ever titled in another state, the the BAR smog number becomes null and void.

In my case, my diesel swap would be ineligible to ever be registered in CA again. I also found out, that, at least in Nevada, I can keep my CA title, but register the vehicle in NV - Nevada registration and plates, and no fees to CA. Kind of best of both worlds if I ever need to have CA title in future.

Even though my 60 is CA titled as a diesel, and does not have to be smogged in CA. Our place in Nevada is in Douglas County, and there is no smog testing either.

Keep up the good work.

BAR goes with motor ONLY until registered. CA REF said not to apply BAR sticker to firewall until REF inspection and ready for smog and registration, regardless whether it is an out of state new registration or standard CA registration on a previously registered CA vehicle. Sticker will be affixed to the firewall and be entered into the CA database once smog cert is in hand.

Also the (EDIT- Erod) has an EPA and CA SMOG part number issued by GM and approved by CA and EPA, so I don't see that being correct information you were given. I've been working with my local REF on this from day one. I trust him much more than a pissed off DMV employee that lets their mood dictate if you get registration the day you go in.

Hope referee is correct. I'm just going with the Nevada registration and keeping CA title when we move.

Who knows for sure...It's Kalifornia! I was told that BAR is a CA agency, and once a vehicle is registered in another state, BAR approval ends. If the vehicle was to return to CA, it would have to go through the BAR process again.

Could be on some previously BAR certs. Since the GM Erod cruise and connect is CARB exempt and has it's own OE# and sticker I technically don't even need to deal with BAR. The local REF and several smog shops here have said they just need to verify the emissions components and run the test. This is the main reason I'm even dealing with the REF as I don't want to overlook something as this is my first CA engine swap, plus the info and experience from this person is greatly appreciated.

But if this wasn't a new Erod crate kit or I was transplanting an older used LS3 into the build I would have to run it through BAR no ifs, ands or buts about it.

Any engine swap has to be verified by the REF. If it is passed by the ref then you are good to go
No need for BAR. With the Erod, it makes it easier because it is CA compliant.
