Had three days/two nights planned but it seems my frame had a hidden crack on the top tube (bottom side covered by the frame bag) that fully spread and broke on this ride forcing me to cut it short. Thought something felt off on the bike about 15 miles in when I got speed wobbles on a slight downhill but didn't notice the frame was broken all the way through until I got to camp at mile 50. Splinted the tube with some tent stakes and ski straps and rode the 50 miles back to my car the next day. Seems to be a manufacturing defect and everything is being covered to make things right.
Ho-lee! That's a lot of work and not a lot of restSleep time for a bit. I’m beat. I want gears next year.

Hey man, you’re not the only one. I’ve been dealing with a bad hip (impingement and labral tear) so all I do is look at posts here and on Strava and throw myself a pity party.man i love seeing you guys riding. i’ve had a quiet winter of riding bewteen a foot injury and crappy weather. doing another trip with my wife to nevada next month to desertride again. new tires to be mounted and a few tune ups but it’ll be nice to be back in the saddle again.
Don’t worry, they make derailleurs that are immune to dead batteries and bad contacts!I rode 17 miles in one gear because my AXS was dead. Kinda different. I felt Beno-ey.
I assumed it was because one of the pogo pin battery contacts wasn't springing anymore. I've been bodging it with a tiny lump of alu foil for about 3 months.
When I got back I decided to solder a new one in. I did it with the derailleur on the bike ... which led to a fiddly, difficult, frustrating task. Everything is micro sized and bouncing on the power wires that act like springs. A surgical robot would have been helpful. 25 minutes and one vanished new pogo pin later (buy at least three if you plan to do this), and the der was fixed.
But it still didn't shift. Turns out the acute condition was an old-fashioned dead battery (I miss my XT Di2 with its 12 month battery charge). But at least I don't have to worry about bodging the stuck pogo anymore when I change batteries.
