Yeah, some wierd weather going on. One of my Sons is a deputy, in the area and says it's bad. I'm high and dry!

Heard of a few casualties and major damage. Unfortunate, to say the least.

Said 10" of rain. Not sure in what time, but that's a lot of water.

Past winter we had one freeze. Spring and summer have been very wet. Makes me wonder what this fall/winter have in store for us, considering there's no similar barometer in the archives.

I was already behind, but the rain we've endure through the summer has cost a lot of time. Coupled with the high humidity and intense heat, productivity is about 65% on the days the crews are working, so I've more than a few disgruntled accounts.

Here.

Once again, many thanks to Aaron at Summit and the driver team that delivered. All great folks to work with, Aaron calling as we were unloading to check in and the husband/wife team aiding in getting her started plus showing a genuine interest in the new acquisition.

Had about thirty minutes with her, enough to run out of gas driving around the facility to let them in and out.

Now insured and hoping like heck I can keep the dogs at bay long enough to tag today, so I can drive tomorrow.

Lots of issues, lots of questions, lots of things I need, the first being a battery.

Questions, while I'm here.

What do y'all think of the wheels?

Not OE, I realize, but they don't appear out of place and almost look like others I've seen on 70-80 TLCs.

Something isn't right with steering, but need to properly inflate tires and a tie rod is bent. I checked the front hubs and one was locked, the other unlocked, but shouldn't (being operative) make much of a difference. Does have a rear locker, which may have tight turn driving implications and will probably be swapped.

Anything I should concern myself with checking before driving on road, regarding steering? Besides the overall health of my forearms?

Delancy,

She looks great! On the wheels, they look good as is or bead blast and powder coat gray.

Now about number four! :)

I asked PO if he knew anything about the history of the wheels, because the history matters to me, and he said he didn't, so don't know how long they've been on there.

Ordered an 80 upper pan hard bolt assembly from local Toyota parts girl Monday before last (thinking it'd be here in a day or two.) and she emailed they arrived today, so I sent pics of Pig and her reply....(she used to have TLCs in CA)

So figured they may be correct enough to keep.

Anyhow, needs tires so the decision will need to be made soon, hopefully after lift decision is made, since I'd like to run 33s.

And the fourth one is on it's way from Japan, ad we speak.....

I couldn't resist. My son will dig it, since he has an FJC one, already.

Small snag....no tag and with plates that are so far out of date the sticker isn't discernible, I didn't want to try my luck through the gauntlet of the small town local police force to drive home.

Resolution in the works, so will reserve comment until then, but awaiting a duplicate title.

Regardless, I don't like driving Pigs.

They attract way too much attention for someone who (I know you won't believe this) doesn't talk much and prefers to blend into the background. It was obvious in my six mile journey to buy a battery and failed attempt at tagging that no one has ever seen one in the small town of Jenks, OK.

Not serious about not liking driving, by the way, because I love this Pig. (Still plenty of love for the others....I've a big heart and they're all receiving some of it)

It was an unforgettable experience. No way to relay without delving out of tech, so tune out now if my ramblings bore.

For the few moments I enjoyed in the intense sauna like cab (rear window isn't functioning) it felt like I'd stepped back in time in a very surreal, serene way and purpose was mine to the Pig, not the other way around.

In the same moment, felt a connection that transcends a typical first drive in which the driver is on point attempting to asses the issues of the machine to be addressed. Felt more like she was telling me, in an odd mechanical way (not personifying, either), "this is what I am, this is what I need, and this is how you fit into the equation".

Very cool moment. Maybe it was my heightened sensitivity combined with the excitement of having a driving Pig. I can't pinpoint and for once I'm not going to over analyze, but enjoy it.

Don't believe it. Glad you enjoyed the drive.

Thanks Bob.

You can lie down under the front axle with a tape measure and get an idea of your toe-in, maybe snug up the center arm pivot...they're generally too loose.

It's loose, for sure. Properly inflating tires helped tremendously, but the front DS has separated, so it still follows the crown.

Shopping tag agencies right now.

Hoping my good looks and charm may work, for once.

Didn't work. The title is voided and not transferable.

In communication with seller and the only means to correct is to acquire a duplicate title in California.

Small miscalculation in judgement that anyone could make. I had already had the title approved as it was, too, which sucks.

Gonna go put her back and hold off on doing anything, for now.

Bummer.
Will the seller help you get a re-issue?
Can your county call the county the old title as issued to confirm date?

Seller's on board to resolve, which will require a duplicate title issuance from CA. I've researched and it's not a big deal to reissue with the proper forms filled, notarized, and filed.

No clue how long, but will be pushing for expedited.

The date was altered, therefore the title is worthless.

I didn't know that it had been altered until I received title, since the scan I had wasn't.

Had already had the scan approved with the earlier date, is crappy part.

Want it resolved. akirilo is a local 80 guy and LEO and he said if I was pulled over with the 2000 CA plate, it'd be impounded (anything over 90 days is) even if insured. Without a title I couldn't prove I own to get out of impound.

Want to drive it, but also want to quit worrying. Have quite a bit invested in.

Delancy,

You're doing the right thing, take the time now and get it right. no worries. Piece of mind is worth it. Some guys screw around and try to over ride the system, always looking over their shoulder.

Ron,
In honestly, I did shop tag agencies, three to be exact.

The last agent was twenty years my senior (I'm not old, but not young. She was old) and I turned on the charm, batted my eyelashes, flipped my hair, did all I could to keep her bifocals intent on something other than the date, and we made it through all the paperwork, she researched "76 PIG" and "2FPIG" plate availability, and she was about to walk and inspect the VIN when she noticed.

I thought I was home free, but she stated it wouldn't matter if she hadn't caught, because OTC would've on the transfer, since they're hypersensitive to CA titles due to the lack of CAs notarization requirements.

Bummer!
Why the hek was the PO messing around with the dates on the title? Lame...

An assumption, but there's verbiage on the CA DMV site that said something along the lines of transfer date being valid for 30 days.

I don't know if that concerned seller, because it was dated 4/2/13, which was perfectly acceptable to OK agencies, but changed to 8/2/12 and it was blatant.

Here's the deal. It's in the seller's deceased father and mother's name. In an earlier email, he stated it was signed by his father shortly before he passed (have a brief history of the vehicle, which I'll add for posterity, once all is settled) so the duplicate request will have to be completed by his mother.

I do not for one second, believe that there was an malicious intent on the part of the seller. I did not get to see the physical paper title until I returned from vacation which was a few hours before the Pig was delivered, so prudence was in place, but I failed at contingencies.

We'll, collectively seller and I, know more tomorrow, but this should only be a matter of requesting and receiving duplicate title, then having his mother sign and send to me.

Until I feel that my interest aren't being satisfied, I won't pursue alternatives.

I know CA issues electronic transfers, but I've no clue how it'd be received by OTC, but that may be the fastest option.

Will know more tomorrow, but come hell or high water (which is coming to NEOK) this Pig will be titled in OK in my name, legitimately or legally.

I can't wait to legally drive her, though have a lot of work to do before considering truly roadworthy.

Don't want to do anything until this is resolved, beyond the battery I replaced.

Edited: For the record, the seller took full responsibility and, at this time, seems as concerned about this being rectified as I am, so I'm certain that we'll resolve.

Hindsight's 20/20 and I thought I had thought of everything, but it did come to me that it'd have been better to have had title delivered certified mail, as opposed to FedEx which was my choosing.

It won't come to legal proceedings, I do not believe, but I have less to lose than the other party, from every perspective as I see it, so a serious affair that I know both of us understand the ramifications.

It'll all be cool and parts coming soon. I have a list of questions, but gonna wait until this is put to bed.

Well, gives you time to straighten outt he steering...

U joints are shot and the link is bent, with a lot of play elsewhere. It's predictable, at least, since it moves from 10 to 2 when the crown in the road shifts.

I see no reason for PS for this Pig's purpose and it'll probably remain stock along with the 72, but I refuse to put 555 TREs on it.

The TREas are fused to the links on the 71 and they're shot anyway. If I keep the 71, it will be built, so none of it's steering will remain, but don't think it's worth the effort to remove, then have to contend without being able to move it, easily.

Will be talking to Onur tomorrow about the parts he's ready to ship me for the 72. Hopefully, all steering components were sourced, don't know if they're the same anyway, but not opposed to swapping out for new OE.

When it comes to steering and braking, I'd prefer not to screw around and do it right the first time.....it's determining what's right that's the biggest issue.

Stops perfect.

Came with clutch kit, but the clutch feels good to me.

Also came with new OE hinges, which was a cool find.

I'm listening, Pighead.
