WELCOME! Don't be a stranger, there are a few UC guys here in Asheville, sort of the North Country for UC. I'm headed for Nashville Saturday to do a little cross state cycling.

Are we the northern version of the mafia?

The French Broad Mafia!

Seems our ranks are growing, and seems that a lot of UC events are occuring in our "territory.":grinpimp:

Nice. As long as that nomenclature loses the Clemson association once you pass the state line, I'll abide. Just like the Dude. :grinpimp:

It has been proposed to me that some members cannot attend this event due to other events going on the same day.

If we moved the parkway run to Oct 20th would this be any better?

October is slammed all around...sheesh!

Don't tell me there is a football game that weekend!

If it's moved to the 20th I'm probably out. That's the weekend before the Pumpkin Pig Run and I'll be in a mad rush preparing.

Nah actually Clemson is not playing on the 13th. But the Pumpkin Festival and the GA Cruisers Annual Meeting is that weekend.

I will keep this open for the time being but I'm still planning on doing it the 13th.

Looks like we have

Me
Steve
David D
Merle
JP
Andy (possibly)
Jay Conklin
Gehn

If your planning on going please chime in so we can get table reservations for lunch. Merle knows the owner and is working on hooking us up.

would anybody be up for some light wheeling before meeting up for lunch??? there is actually a easy little trail off the parkway at the Black Balsam area ( about 10 miles from pisgah) it is called Ivestor gap road and is fairly straight forward it is a level road for the most part but is very rocky...... no problem for a stock cruiser.

the cool part is the views it is roughly at about 5500 feet up and is very open due to the fact that is on the balsams........... any ways just a thought. I have run it a couple of times both in the cruiser and on my mountain bike

JP - I am definitely down for this if I make the ride. Cool area, I used to go up there in school but haven't been back in years. There are some really great balds up there.

Any chance of you doing this on Friday instead? :D

OK, shoot me a PM after you get things in line. I'll already be up that way (sort of) on Friday putting the slay day on some new honey holes. :D You're welcome to join us pre-Black Balsam. I won't be able to camp though as we're due in Asheville that night.

I'll probably take the 40.

JP, I would love to give the FJC a proper break in on a fairly straight forward trail... My wife and I will be camping at Pisgah MTN campground the night before the ride, so just keep me up to date on the particulars of running the bald and i'd love too.....

I'm in for the lunch and the leaf run. When the Ivestor Gap thing settles I'm interested in that too if it's schedule doable.

Added Wild Bill to the list. Anymore coming?

We need to get a good head count so Merle can get us set up.

Parkway Ride Regrets

Marshall & all...wish I could make it, but I"m scheduled to work that day. (and REALLY wish I could with my newly running '72 FJ40, thanks to Bill and Marshall for helping me out the other weekend!!! After 4 years it's finally running, well at least enough to get around the block and start my continuous troublshooting.)

I'll send some pics of my ride soon, well as soon as I get a bit more computer literate!

Does anyone (who is not in a hurry) want to caravan from Greenville? My Pig does great on the roads except when I have to downshift to second on the tight switchbacks...it don't like those. :grinpimp:

Steve, Becca and I will be going. We will come through travelers rest. We can meet at Sun Rift. We can meet at 9:30. That should give us plenty of time.
