I'm wrong. I thought castor was the angle of the suspension.

To me it looks like the rear wheels have what I would have called positive caster (*edit) I learned something new today, thanks for that.
The only problem is, I don't know why your rear drivers wheel looks like it is sitting so far forward?

Just me?

caster is the angle of the steering.. Your diagram shows different caster angles.

Camber is the angle of the wheels relative to the side of the car.

Not sure what you're saying about the rear wheels relative to the rest of the van.

I've got to stop posting after night shifts...
I am well versed in camber and toe, didn't mean to write camber there, used the exact wrong word.
I'm just going to stop saying technical things.

Truck looks great haha

It's been two and a half months since my transmission swap.

At the time I had some new OEM flywheel and pressure plate bolts but my machine shop lost them when I was having it balanced so I just used some from ACE. :hillbilly:

The flywheel hasn't came up through the floor and severed my legs yet so I guess it's safe to share now.

And to continue my habit of painting stuck under my van random colors I did up the inspection cover in fire engine red.

What did you end up using for the gasket that goes between the bellhousing and bottom cover? The OEM gasket is discontinued, I need to address this soon in my build.

Mine actually had the gasket on there in pretty nice condition, I didn't realize it was was long gone so I tore it off and threw it out. I actually don't have a gasket on there at all right now, when I do the motor swap I'm going to try to find some kind of thick outdoor weatherstripping.

My inspection cover is currently covered in oil on the outside from the oil pan leaking so badly.

My drivers window died AGAIN, don't know what it what this time but I've replaced every part of that window system, the motor, relay and switch.

So I converted all the windows to manual crank style from an FJ60. I used the right door panels so it looks factory. However,y locks work great so I'm on the lookout for the factory switch that came on HJ60's with electric locks and manual windows. Amayama has them for $30.

Not much to see, just looks like an FJ60. I installed the original speaker covers that I found in my warehouse, old school.

My "poverty pack" conversion is nearing completion. :)

Did some more work on the engine, it's set to go in but I think I'm going to run it on a stand before I pull the current.

Valves are set, compression is good, and leak down test was successful. Installed a new Aisin oil pump and oil cooler with new o-rings and gaskets. Oil pan and valve cover on too.

And now some tech!

The FSM states that the oil pump return line attaches to block with a torque spec of 33 ft-lbs. This is where what is called a "crow's foot" comes in handy.

It's is a bad idea to paint surfaces that see gaskets or sealers. Don't worry about going crazy masking parts off though, just go back with some lacquer thinner on a rag and wipe off surfaces that see gaskets.

I hope you accounted for the crows foot angle in the picture when you set your torque wrench.
Looks good!

Can I earn Wagon Way status now? I promise I won't post too much... :)

Still getting crap mileage? In any case, I would go the same way if swapping to a manual transmission. 4 spd would be so much cheaper than H55 and wouldn't really need the overdrive for the speed I like to travel.

It's improved, but I've also matured my style of driving which I think was the main culprit.

Do you drive more than 40 mph? If so then go for the 5 speed if you can, it really is much better, I'm regretting not doing it initially but I just got such a good deal on this trans and the fact that it was rare peaked my interest and impatience. I'll have an h55f eventually, probably at the same time as the 1HZ swap happens.

Time for a little update, finally had some weekend time to screw around on the 62. Got my transfer shifter in and drove it in Low for the first time with the new trans, very impressed. Eric (wheelin62) did a great job building this case, no whines, leaks and shifts great. Now I want another one to rebuild myself though... Anyways it is nice not to have the whole in the floor anymore. Got a new fire extinguisher for up front as well because the one I had had 1997 stamped on it, only a year newer than me!

Pulled the mud flaps and snake blinders to find a ton of dirt, cleaned and then decided not to put them back on, I knew it was only a matter of time before they got trashed so I'd like them to go to a restoration because they are quite nice.

I built yet another antenna mount for my CB that I never use, and pulled the hi-lift off the roof rack, and pulled the roof light wires and rear lights. Going to use Weatherpack and make the lights a removable harness. Nothing left on the roof rack except for the main fogs and they aren't wired, going to get a friend to help me pull the rack soon so I can address the roof. It's rusting quite bad, as well as a few other spots that are way beyond my skill level. I'm just going to POR them and do a body swap in a couple years. For now I want to pull the mazzive rack and paint the roof almond white, and get some lower profile roof bars, I really don't need the huge rack on there all the time.

Took it kayaking as well this afternoon.

Here's some pics:
