skid plate hung, fresh spark plugs installed, truck packed with spares and tools, just need to go for a quick grocery/snack run (:beer:), then rock out in the morning?!! So excited, this has been my first "real" wheeling trip since the last Colorado /Rubicon run in 2023. I am mostly excited about trying a new to-me event /park

Today was a long but completely uneventful 900 mile drive. Made it to Winchester Va, hotel tonight because I’m a princess and then will meet up at the event tomorrow morning!

Made it back home this afternoon in one piece! Added an extra day to the return trip to stop at Jonas’ @ Barnyard Cruisers to pick up another door shell, a fresh red hood and the tailgate latch I needed.

Have a bunch of pics/videos to post but overall a 10/10 trip! 2000 miles, some good wheeling, perfect weather, lots of new friends, good times. I really enjoyed the park for the wheeling I like to do, harder rock trails but without tons of trees and needless destruction. Will definitely be doing this trip/event again.
It was also really nice spend some time with my friend Josh who also made the drive from Fl in his 80. Our camp site was perfect.
Josh also was my winch cable runner a lot this weekend

Out of curiosity how does the turbo do when wheeling? Do you deal with a lot of lag or any negatives. I love the idea of a turbo just seems fun.

I don't really drive agressively enough to get into the RPM's for it to actually build boost off-road. I really just did it for street acceleration. It starts to spool like 2800-3K but no properly sized turbo is really going to make serious boost until over 5K rpm. You don't really want to make real boost below 6K rpm anyways, that's a good way to kick rods out of one of these

I met a guy around here in Bedford Va today showed me some pictures of a local rock crawling spot also said there are some trails too this is just a couple miles away not that I have anything to beat on at the moment but I do have a couple 80s I've been selling some parts off of that I could turn into something also have some 1 ton axles with lockers have a set of 2 1/2 ton axles too might build something once my shop is built and im living here full time.

Didn’t get too many pictures but did get a few videos I need to upload to YouTube and embed here.

I did have an issue with my rear ARB leaking down and I think I broke my front ARB so I was basically open/open the 2nd day. I had a bit of a slip up and ended up beached on a huge boulder I flopped the truck off of winching off of it. Luckily the rear door that was already caved in took the entire damage.

Stopped at Jonas and picked up a replacement door on the way home!

I love that Pic of you turtled on that boulder, lol. Like, how did that happen.

Sad I missed it!

I kinda slipped off something else further uphill since I was open/open and having to drive a bit more *stylistically*, and then landed on that boulder, right under my skid, with all four tires off ground, and then when winching it off it just tipped left. I know the picture makes it look like it’s just a big single rock in the middle of flat ground, it doesn’t show everything else at all good angle

Good to see you out wheeling again, Sorry we did not get to wheel together, but good to hang out a little. Catch you on the next one!

Matt how's the transmission?
I really like it! It’s like an NV4500 that shifts like a Tremec if anyone has driven anything with a T56 its a lot like that

One thing I am considering is changing the 13/16” MC I put in to a 3/4” to try. The 13/16” is working good in terms of pedal height where the engagement is (I prefer a very immediate engagement) but the pedal effort is a bit more then I’d like, it’s a bit of a leg workout since most of my driving is low speed stop and go around the city these days.

Fortunately this is a quick bolt-on change with my kit *shameless plug*
*also coming soon for FJ40/FJ55

I read this as lighting the turbo and I wish I was there to see it, lol.
It wasn’t really anything exciting. Just a little bit of bouncing around open/open.
I really never get over 3k -3500 rpm off road. Especially with how under damped the rear suspension is right now, bouncy

Of course after I go to all that effort on the custom pitman arm I see that 4wheelunderground already makes exactly the same thing
For reference mine cost me a LOT more then just buying this
I just saw this today and figured I'd post it in case anyone is thinking of doing the same thing
