what thickness? You shouldn’t be folding up .188” or .25” wall no matter how many dents are in it.
Damage next to the weld has the thickness down to ~0.0625

Dents on both sides of the same part of the shaft and a pinch next to the weld. That gets retubed before it folds up.
Ignoring the rock graffiti, the tube looks pretty torque stressed in both pics IMHO. Sounds like a good choice to me.

Yeah dude, get that thing made with a real tube. You’re going to be retubing it every time otherwise

It's actually my spare which I had thrown together so the truck was usable while i was waiting for my High Angle built shaft (which I'm still waiting for). I was pretty surprised how little material was left at the yoke.

None the less, it's retubed and ready for pick up on Monday... Hoping i get my "real" one before the race.

Retubed shaft back in and ready for renewed destruction.

Finally got around to installing all of the Baja Designs lights i picked up on Black Friday.

2x S2 Pro ditch lights
2x S2 Pro reverse lights
4x S1 rock lights

Used the tube mounts BD sells for several of the mounts. Really impressed with the quality.

I've been messing with installing a map light for night navigation at OTC. I was about to pull the trigger on something to hard wire and then it occurred to me i have a bunch of RAM components and a red flood flashlight. Mounted it up to test it this weekend.

I suggest this map light.
It's rad ( also biased)

Is having map lights for trail driving a thing? We used those during mil exercises or flights to hide our position, but trail riding? What am I missing?

Its specifically for the Oregon Trophy Challenge race. About half of it occurs at night and requires a lot of map and direction reading. Last year we used regular headlamps and found the constant white light made it harder to see the course.

Ah, makes sense!

It is rad. But it doesn't have the WAL-E robot ship Capitan look.

I'll probably get one for my rig though :)

Cool setup. If that doesn't work out, poke around in the rally racing forums. The navigator needs to read routes at night, so there are usually solutions for night friendly lighting. When I built my (former) rally car, I used a light on a flexible boom arm. I got it out if the UK. They're resistant to vibration.

I found the place hard to navigate in the daylight 🤪 trails heading off in every direction.
Are you allowed GPS or paper maps only ?

Did you sit in the passenger seat? Seems like I am gonna hit my face on that.
Yeah, i checked it. It's ok off to the side. Being all RAM mount stuff it's easy enough to take off if it's annoying.

You can have GPS, but the way the directions are written it's not a ton of use. I have a tablet running OnX in the dash to at least get a sense of where we are.
