Is the Trail Team still around? Will they be there?

They are not around and will not be there as Toyota representatives. There may be a couple of TT leaders around, but no longer affiliated with Toyota.

I just saw on the requirements page for this event and it requires a CB radio. Is this correct? So if I don't have one I cant go?

Thanks

CB radio is required to pass inspection.

If you can't pass the inspection, you can't ride in a GCLC led trail ride.

crap, i am out then. we gave up CBs 20 years ago.

enjoy the event guys, sounds like a blast.

Interesting. How do you communicate on the trail with other drivers?

FWIW, CB radios are pretty cheap. A mid end Cobra can be had on Amazon for around $60.

FSR?
you know those little hand held radios that you buy at home despot

I know FRS and GMRS very well and have used both for years. Have found both pretty useless in the woods as they're only good for line of sight. Also if you're in a hardtop vehicle it cuts transmission by about 90%. Again, pretty useless.

I let my kids have them when they're out of the truck.

Hate to see you bail on the event for something trivial.

CB radio

My recently acquired FJ40 did not have a CB radio. I bought a brand new Cobra 40 channel CB and a Firestik antenna on EBay for $72 shipped to my door. Same radio and antenna as I have on my piggy and they work fine in the woods and out in the open. It's good to have a CB radio especially if you're in a new 4 wheeling venue with people you have just met. I've been a trail leader at CMCC and other events for years at both Paragon and Rausch Creek and find that CB radios are a good thing to have. My two cents for what that's worth..........Gary S

Instead of a cb, I usually use one of the following:

the horn,
my voice,
or my finger...

all work lots better than the CB :grinpimp:

I'm tying to pick up some soft top bows coming from a guy from Connecticut. I'd be happy to pay $50 bucks. Stephen - 404-202-6432.

I want to thank John and Josh for stepping up and helping out Stephen.

Same caterer as last year? If I remember correctly the chicken was awesome!

CB Radio

Actually I have an older Cobra here with microphone and cable free to anyone who wants it. Mounting bracket is missing. Will deliver to Coal Mine, too, for a beer.

By the way wheeled at Rausch yesterday perfect weather and a great group of five to wheel with. Toured the new property, lotsa room there. Did one black trail and passed on another (waiting for Cam and company!!!). The park is as dry as I have ever seen it, far less mud and running water than normal. Trail 10 was DRY. Hell, just thinking, in two weeks we'll be eating dinner and sitting at the raffle! Gary S

Wow,no CB and your out...From the one time I was there at the event no one was that far ahead to warrant a CB. I don't get it. In any case I am not going cause I can't get off. What's next tho,no locker and your out,no 35s and your out. Ive been to much larger events(rubithon 6 times) and they had an inspection but would never not allow a rider because of a CB....Lighten up francis.....I want to go on here but I better not.

Sincerly
The sierra club.......in a different form.

Rausch Creek doesn't require a CB so you can still wheel. After all you are paying them.

James,

FWIW, the CB is the single most used piece of gear in my truck. Simply because YOU don’t see the need for one is not a valid reason to exclude it from a required equipment list. In the last 15 years I have never needed the fire extinguisher that’s in my truck, but I wouldn’t think of traveling anywhere without it. With the exception of a Band-Aid or 2, I have never needed the multiple first aid kits that are in my truck either. Should we cross those off the list as well?

In any case, this issue was discussed and voted upon at the last GCLC meeting. We would be happy to open it to discussion at the next meeting.

i am going to eed a full list of stuff the truck HAS to have...
i don't have a fire extinguisher either, 3 years and never needed one but i think i have a baby one here somewhere...
is there a list somewhere?
plus, i have a TLCA number but have not been paid up in a few years...i think the last time i paid was when i saw the first FJLoser add in the mag and lost total interest in the rest of it.
