Being old and partially deaf helps. And the camper in the next site snores louder than the jake brakes.

The young'ens are plugged into their ipods, so they don't hear a thing anyway.

Still better than EV.

so your saying i will be fine... deaf, old and sleep like a dead bear for 5 hours then wake up grumpy and hungry...

nice thing about kids, they are just like skidders, give them a slap and they stay away.
 :flipoff2:

;)you will be fine.........exspect for me pestering you:flipoff2:

You left out the jake brake roar all night long from the coal trucks on 209. It's a nicer camp ground than EV, just bring ear plugs.

....but you'll get yelled at for revving your 350 in the morning trying to figure out your fuel injection.... :D:D:D THAT'S apparently too much noise in the campground

Old man Bob! where are you staying? you're always in the land of milk and honey so I'll stick close to you! (besides... don't you owe me a hub stub or something?)

John H, glad to hear Echo's been making improvements....
Hoping to make it this year after a 2 year hiatus!

I used to know a Bozo named Bonzai Chris a long, long time ago. I think I still have some hub parts for him in the console of my 40. I'll be staying at EV so I'll set you up with a blind date with thr proprietor if you stay there.

Welcome back Chris

Chris- Old Bob is darn magnaminious setting you up with Judy. Now that Dave C is no longer pres she probably won't hang with him...........Welcome back to the event.

Camping wise the place where Joe Mylie stays is very nice and the truck noise isn't as bad as it used to be. It is indeed a great place for kids and has nice swimming pool. It's also fairly close to a very good sort of out-of-the-way breakfast spot. I believe the local police monitor that stretch of road to minimize the use of jake brakes from trucks coming down the hill.

Camping at Echo Valley is interesting and not bad at all. It sure is the place to be in the evenings. I've already rented one of the campers at Echo Valley- wasn't cheap, nor was it partiularly clean, but it did have hot water in the shower and the AC worked flawlessly. Lots of options at EV. Personally I stay at the Comfort Inn in Pine Grove to pretty much assure a good night sleep. That's me, I'm old!

I'll be in a new (to me) truck this year, too- John Pulich's old 40. Hope I can get used to a short wheelbase and wide stance (just the opposite of the piggy!!!). Gary S

That means Chris will have to share her with Dave. Can't go getting Dave all out of sorts!

Welcome back.

Comfort Inn

I highly suggest anyone interested in staying at the Comfort Inn call for a reservation. Last year they were full for the event and had no rooms available to latecomers. It is the Comfort Inn in Pine Grove PA right off exit 100 of Interstate 81 phone number is 570-345-8031. If calling for a reservation be sure to mention you are with the Coal Mine group at Rausch Creek- the rate is right around $60 per night. The place is clean, close to gas stations, Arby's and McDonalds, has a nice pool, and is within sight of the interstate.

The exit for Echo Valley is 104, makes the hotel about five miles from the campground. Easy drive. From the campground to Rausch is about four miles. Easy drive.

Camp-Awhile is less than a mile off exit 112 of I-81. From Camp Awhile the direct route to Rausch is down the interstate to exit 107, but then again there is the long way that takes you past a few breakfast spots, including Rachel's, and has some neat roads and scenery.

Breakfast at Rachels in Joliet is good, reasonably priced and the place is interesting. It;'s right off route 209 not far from the entrance to the park. Many a day I've taken a load of campers in my piggy to Rachel's for a good brekfast.

The Log Cabin (forget the name maybe it IS the Log Cabin) right down the road from Echo Valley is a good choice for breakfast, too. It's on route 125 right at the edge of Pine Grove. Dan the Man Friedlander swears by their country sausage! At last year's Coal Mine we had a large group for Saturday breakfast.

Hope this info helps. While Rausch is in a fairly secluded area there are some touches of civilization in the area. Gary S

In case you missed it on the mailing list, the following was sent out after much discussion on and off list...

Beginning at Coal Mine Cruiser Classic 2010, the Gotham City Land Cruisers will be reinstating its policy of vehicle inspections. Inspections can be carried out by any GCLC staff member at any time during the event. All determinations of safety violations are the sole judgment of the GCLC and will be backed by the GCLC Board of Directors.

In the words of one of our wiser board members, "Our primary goal with this whole GCLC thing is to have a good time with a hobby. However, what we do is inherently dangerous and potentially lethal. It is in everyone's best interest to be properly equipped. When you get right down to it, the required list is pretty basic."

Please check the GCLC Safety Checklist located at this URL:
http://www.gclcny.com/docs/GCLCChecklist.pdf

There is one notable change in the required equipment. After much discussion on the mailing lists, (public and Board of Directors), a working CB radio is now required.
