Speaking of the Panama Canal, our roofs arrived in the Bahamas on 13 June and will be transferred to GSL TEGEA 422W on 17 June with an arrival to the Canal on 23 June.

Current arrival time to LA is now 3 July.

I'm launching on the Min Salmon on the 3rd of July thru the 6th...any idea how long it will take to clear customs and be ready to pick up?
When I imported my Troopy it took me 6 days to get it to my door after landing at the port. Given the holiday, I'd guess the earliest we'd be able to get these is probably the weekend starting 6 July. I'll need to get more info from my import broker about where they will be moved to, etc.

Things that have to happen:
1. Offload from ship
2. Clear customs
3. Container loaded onto truck and moved to breakout location
4. Container broken out and tops potentially transported again to storage location
5. Pickup from storage location

Import duties, etc will still need to be paid by everyone once I get the final number and before pickup is authorized.

Nice. Have fun. Our launch is July 22.

Team,

Updated arrival time in LA is 16 July.

Guess our ship decided to have a little port call at the Panama Canal.

Ship gets underway for LA on 6 July with a 16 July arrival in LA.

Thank you, Paul! Do you have a sense of what the time needed to clear customs and get to the warehouse/pickup point would be? Wondering if it is realistic to plan to pick up the weekend of the 20th.

For those of you who want to coordinate a run north along the west coast, do you want to like/reply to this post and I'll get a message thread going to coordinate?

I’ll be home from my current expedition on 11July. Once home, I’m hoping to get something written up about my installation; what I did, what went right/wrong, and what I think I should have done differently. I will say it’s worth buying a cheap electric caulk gun, and either electric or pneumatic shears. I used electric shears and it was fine, but I think using pneumatic ones would have been easier.

I think the weekend of the 20th is probably reasonable if there are no more delays! Will keep you updated.

I was hoping I could get down there to get mine and throw a couple more on my trailer, but I'll be out on the Main Salmon from July 21-28. I'd love to work out getting mine further north. (I live outside Seattle)

Team, in contact with the import broker.

Import charges are attached.
-Chassis Usage Charge
-ISPS - INTERN (whatever that is)
-Terminal Handling Charge

The total once paid by the import broker is 722.50 + a $35 fee since the Mediterranean Shipping Company won't let me pay by credit card and would require a wire transfer from an individual. My bank charged $35 for a wire fee, so either way we would have to pay this. $14.50 is still unpaid and I'll add it to the required payments from everyone else, see more below.

After discussions with the import broker, they said that the weekend of the 20th is realistic for pickup of these rooftop tents if there are no delays in unloading/breakout.

I'm tracking the following tops have follow on movement to the east coast:

1. @theglobb - East Coast Port (Charleston) Shipping from LA
2. @bulletsmith East Coast Port (Charleston) Shipping from LA
3. @seanroe1 East Coast Port (Charleston) Shipping from LA
4. @Universe953 East Coast Port (Charleston) (Late addition, he worked with Cassiem directly and didn't post here in mud. He has paid for shipping, his shipping payment will cover these import costs as he paid $743 like everyone else after the fact) Shipping from LA

@bulletsmith is currently working shipping from LA. He is working a shipping quote from LA to somewhere in the south east through a contact of his, more to follow.

I am available for questions at my cell at 989-980-0708. Please just text me and I'll try and get back as quick as I can. But please, include your Ih8mud handle so I can associate a name with a username, my filing cabinet upstairs is full and I have a hard time remembering names unfortunately.

As someone who’s been on MUD for 20 years now, this might be the smoothest group buy I’ve ever seen. Really impressed. I’ve seen so many people fǔcked over, lose money, get bitter, sell their LC, kill other humans over failed group buys….

But bravo. Especially considering you are dealing across multiple time zones, continents, languages, currencies, and cultures.

Great work to @prwillard2 and to the folks who stepped up and actually went through with fulfilling their role in something this complicated.

Agreed, Paul knocked it out of the park, and all participants deserve big participation trophies for being fully on board. Well done.

thank you for all the continued efforts and organization! If I'm not able to tag onto someone else's west coast run, I would be keen to know how much follow-on shipping would be to Santa Cruz.

Thanks Paul for all the hard work.

I've been in contact with the East Coast crew, with the exception of the @Universe953 . Out of the quotes we received the one from Lucky 8 was $880 (x3), so id expect it to be a little over $1k with 4. Theyre also checking on shipping directly to @bulletsmith to make the logistics a little easier for him. Lucky8 will confirm final pricing when they have a pickup location and date.

Also, I've arranged a storage location at a ONSC MUD members Auto Body Shop in Charlotte to help everyone be flexible on pickup dates.

Getting pumped!

I may be able to store yours in 29 Palms if you can't make it down quickly.

I've been watching the thread with no vested interest waiting for the derail, bitterness, LC sales and such. I'm super disappointed.
Sorry to dissapoint!

But still plenty of time for things to go wrong, so not smelling the barn yet.

Additional info coming in from my import broker.

Unloading/transport/breakout from the Port to the warehouse will be a minimum of $1120 for the shipment. This fee will be incurred by everyone. This does not include the import duty that we will also need to pay.

Then another $45 to get your shipment out of the breakout warehouse.

My broker is currently working to find out how long we'll have for free to pick up these boxes.

Worst case for those on the west coast, I can take your tent up to 29 Palms and you'll be forced to pick it up there at your leisure if can't arrange follow on shipping.

Team, another update:

Once broken out, we will have 3 days for free to pick up our tops.

After that, it is $18/week per pallet position.

Unsure if they're going to stack them all up on 1 pallet position or lay them all next to each other, but once they're broken out will find out.

This $18/week seems incredibly reasonable to me, but anyone unable to pick up their top within 3 days will be responsible for their own storage costs.
