I'm sure this has been covered already, but were all the ancillary items we each ordered packed/crated together with each of our individual tops?
This I'm not sure of. There is one additional box that doesn't look like the others. I had originally assumed this was all the accessories. I am hopeful that this is NOT the case, but won't know until we get to the breakout warehouse.

Update, 17 July, 1200PDT:

We are getting an "intensive exam" from customs.

We are getting an "intensive exam" from customs.

Update 1300 PDT:

Exam being done this evening and a charge of $375. Not sure if this is in place of the XRAY we were supposed to to get or additional, but I will know more tomorrow.

Update, 0615PDT, 18 July:

Talked with my South Africa shipping company, that random 11th box is not ours, unsure why it was in the pictures.

Everyone's accessories are packaged individually in each person's box, so no opening of things needed to find where your stuff is!

More to follow on timeline, but doubt this will be available for pickup tomorrow.

We got hit with two exams, one for the XRAY and one for a hands on exam. They EACH cost $375, so a total of $750 for them to just look at some freaking crates. Running a port is a racket.

Update, 0600PDT, 19 July:

Shipment has cleared customs/inspection and has been approved for release.

Will be transported Monday to the breakout warehouse, with first avaible pickups on Tuesday.

Need confirmation on a couple things:
1. @pdxtroopy and please confirm you are still picking up your previously mentioned packages.
2. @seanroe1 please confirm your shipping team has remained the same.

Other admin notes:
1. I am getting a total final bill that covers the import duty, inspections, and other fees. This, along with the shipping cost for the 4 going east coast, will be divided equally amongst the team.
2. Final payment must be made to me before I will authorize shipments to be moved/picked up from the warehouse. I am fronting the cost for this, and if not paid back, I unfortunately cannot authorize the warehouse to release your shipment. If you're tight on cash, hit me up and we can work something out.
3. I will be picking up my top on Wednesday, let me know if your plans have changed and I need to store your top in 29 Palms until you're able to come grab it.

Please hit me up if you've got issues/concerns.

I am sorry we couldn't get this knocked out over the weekend or today, out of my control.

Woo hoo! And thank you Paul. We are planning on picking up all four on Friday. Will that still be within the grace period?

Guess it helps you understand why when companies import stuff they have to charge a markup to cover all the fees you don't get quoted and the hours you don't see. Imagine if you were doing this sitting in a shop costing $10k a month in rent not a government building :)
Soon you can cut big ass holed in fully functional troopy roofs :)

I will reach out and let the import broker know that I plan to pick up Wednesday, you will pick up your 4 on Friday, and the east coast shipping company will be there between Tues-Fri.

Hoping they give us Friday for free, but not a 100% guarantee as we only get 3 days, which would be Tues,Wed,Thurs unfortunately.

I guess you could come to 29 Palms instead of LA if we want to ensure we don't get hit? I'd just grab the 6 containers and bring them to my house.

Absolutely. The rules/laws related to import and the fees associated are something that is not well advertised, probably for good reason.

I understand why they charge 10k for these landed in the US.

I've got a buddy who does large group buys for GTR stuff from Japan, he charges a 10% fee for his time and I totally understand why now.

Local pickups in LA by @pdxtroopy on Friday, 26 July

Have an estimated final bill, approximately $5300 in additional costs from import duties, inspections, shipping 4x containers east coast, etc. Will upload the final bill once I have it, but wanted to let everyone know it's going to be around $530 each person before pickup. Shoot me a DM if you need my venmo/paypal/zelle. I'll update final bill list once I get the shipping quote and cross off those who've paid.

We will not be charged demurrage despite the container not leaving the port until Monday.

For the @pdxtroopy pickup on Friday, my import broker said "however warehouse stated if just a few left something can be worked out." I'm not sure if that means the 4 of them or not, but there may be a slight charge. I will talk to them when I pick mine up Wednesday.

@pdxtroopy please shoot me a DM and I'll send you the pickup authorization for the 4 tops you will be getting.

Thanks again for all the effort and legwork, Paul! So just to be 100% clear, should we each send you $530 now, or better to wait until finalized?

You can send me $530 now if you'd like, may need a couple more dollars from each person afterwards, or I may owe everyone a refund. All depends on the quote from Lucky8 shipping to the east coast as that's the last bill for now.

Update 1600PDT, 19 July:

Just sent my payment.

Pop tops aren’t just good for road tripping and camping. I drove 500 miles to visit family, but there’s no bed space for me. Problem sorted.

Love it! Not that I need to tell you guys this, but right here is a reason people put up with eurovans and their “joys”
Easy to drive and plop down anywhere.
What a great group buy!

I’d love a poptop troopy but the cost of
Entry just getting a troopy decent, then adding a pop top. Maybe some day
