I made it to my mid 50s before I needed reading glasses. The first indication was my inability to read the date on my dress watch. Instead of getting readers I bought a dive watch. Finally gave up a couple of years later and bought readers. Thankfully my distance vision is still great.
Getting older ain't for sissies. Bifocals, hearing aids, capped teeth, prostate surgery and bionic knees. Little left that's OEM. At least my cardiologist can't find anything wrong with the old ticker. Looking forward to artificial intelligence when needed. Likely sooner than later.

Thanks to @thorslc1977 for trusting me with this. Now to find trophy shop or somewhere to make me another.

Rolled the gantry lift over the pig. Plenty of space to raise it vertically from 4 points which should be ideal.

Going to sell the very clean 69 frame that has 2" new Alcan lift and 1F with 3 speed/on tree chassis sometime in June once swap is done. It is titled and all original chassis with drum brakes all around. I will be adding the 69 appropriate gas tank in there also.

If anyone knows of anyone who could benefit from this let me know.

Pulled carb off the 69 last night. Local carb shop is rumored to be very good and they did work on my 79 Ford. Gonna have them clean it up as the engine bay is so dusty from the endless sanding prep for the paint job.

Figure might as well get the 69 running better before the transition. Low idle was terrible and it required quick shot of starting fluid.

Going to replace all fuel lines and check for any air leaks also.

Here’s a few lines you may wanna practice

“Hey dear, I was in line at the auto store and the guy in front of me wanted to return these gauges. The guy at the counter said they are not returnable because they’re electrical parts. After a long discussion the guy said he’d have to try and sell them. I asked him how much and he said… right now I’d take a hundred bucks for them”

Case closed …😇
At this point you are SAVING her money!!!

Just think of all those pairs of shoes she has saved you money by buying!!!

I've had the Speedhut gauges for some time now. I've had to send the four gauge one back for some work and changing my 160 MPH gauge down to 120 MPH. I am getting older and have been slowing down a bit.
Now that you started wearing shorts it all changes, eh?

30 years ago I was calling my wife “ Imelda Marcos” in jest for having so many pairs of shoes… sorry to add that now she has easily beaten that number.

Jon….keep saving that money!

Perfect day to work on Clyde. Time to focus on some pigs after a busy last couple months.

Took awhile to get the timing cover off as Robbie who built this used some seriously stout adhesive!

Lots of residual so had to scrub some but think it turned out alright. New seal installed.

Need to clean up block of the leftover gasket sealant and will install.

Bolts all saved in order, wouldn’t want to screw that up.

Closer!

Need to torque to 130ft-pounds from manual. Of course large torque wrench batteries dead. Next torque wrench only goes to 100.
Maybe them old-fashioned tools can still come in handy sometimes

Yeah that’s way to go for sure!

Larger torque wrench one I got from Delancy’s stash. On way to town to get some batteries. It doesn’t pay to have battery run stuff like this at farm since hour round trip to get anything but I’m on a mission!

Back in the day, Jon. Way back before the winch bumper and 16" wheels. Showed up on Bonnie's Facebook this morning. Coming out of Onion Creek near Moab. Thought you and Kim would enjoy it.

Jim, thanks for sharing! I will share with Kim tonight. Chatted with Steve little while ago. He is working on some fitment issues with air breather requiring him to possibly move motor back a little. I do appreciate him working to get it right the first time!

Would the later model hood be simpler?

Figure l would flush radiator while it was out. Used hose and followed with distilled water. Also purchased drain cock off city racer to facilitate making it easier when reinstalled. Current drain plug seized and I was hoping since out I could get it out. PB blaster and Kroil didn’t work and while trying to be super careful the entire assembly came off.

Removing plug wouldn’t have helped at all. The entire piece is filled with crap.

Question is, what’s best way to clean this? Brake cleaner too caustic? Wish I had US cleaner but I don’t.

When flushing it was rusty at first and the engine and radiator really needs good flushing.

Can I tap this in with brass drift and soft mallet with some type of sealant?
