I know... Have a couple friends down your way who had already rubbed it in on FB.

Were gettin killed with s***ty weather here.

That I do envy right now.
We were up in the hills shooting Sunday AM. It was snowing, not the spring flurry stuff either this was full on snow. Friggin amazing even by NV weather standards.

We still had a great time, nothing more fun than full auto weapon fire on a frosty Sunday morning to get the blood pumping.

Didnt have a whole lot of time yesterday as I DID have yard work that needed tending to. Fawking details...

So I got the holes in the dash filled in. Made a new lip piece for the radio slot that the PO HACKED. Had to completely cut it out and re make/ bend a new piece for that. I DID keep the slot for the time being though. Im thinking that I still might put the radio in that spot. Either that, or my 2M radio...Havent decided yet which would be the best option.
I DO have a radio slot in my center console, but without a carpet, itll be kinda difficult to keep the wire concealed if I were to use the console slot.:hhmm:

Aside from that, I just got the grab handles fit and welded on the roll cage.

You could tack a shaped hard conduit to your floor or to your tranny tunnel cover.

Or run them under the tub....

This is what I was considering. Tucking a tube or something along the door jam. One thing that drives me nuts is wires.

If you hate wiring as much as you say you hate sheet metal work then the wiring should be great when finished...:grinpimp:

Lol... I've never actually done any wiring, so this will be a new experience for me. I just don't like loose wires hangin out everywhere. I'm probably gonna be pretty anal about that part.
Rustytlc is gonna be the boss on the wiring as he's an electrical guru of sorts. Good trade. I weld for him and he helps with the egg head electrical details.

Man I wish I could find someone that is a bodyman that needs wiring done, as I love to do wiring [I hate electrical tape and loose wires], My gm wiper to fj40 and my front light harness.lol Both with corresponding relay's.

Bwaaahaaahaaaa.
The difference in the above statement is that you love electrical, where I dread the sheet metal/ body work. Ironically, I have somewhat of a knack for it. Go figure.

Welcome to my madness and thanks for posting up.

Actually I hate auto wiring, the schematics are totally different than the stuff I work with day to day. I can usually noodle out what needs to be done though.

I got a TON of sh!t done this weekend... Im just about ready to do the bondo work on the tub before I pull it!!!!

Got ALL of the dash holes I dont need filled, fixed that un sightly hacked out radio slot and welded it all in. Picked up a summit brand mohave heater with the duct kit, and installed it.
Got the frame tie in's for the cage fit and completed. Built my rear body mounts. Got 98% of the cage welded in. Got a piece of plastic to put over the inner tail gate. Was installing that, but ran out of nut-serts, so that is PARTIALLY done. Then, the end of the GM column (after grinding it for fit the CV joints) the metal was too thin once ground down, so I got some 3/4 in rod and ground it down to fit INSIDE the inner part of the column and then welded that in.

GREAT PROGRESS this weekend!!!

Some more...frame tie in for the cage, the heater unit mounted to the fire wall and a shot of the dash. Those big ass holes are where the vents come out. The vents covers are rotational 360 deg, so you can blow the air anywhere. Didnt get a shot of those in, but you get the idea.

A couple of the plastic deck on the tail gate and my "to do list" that is now dwindling!!!!! :bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2:

Awesome work you doing on this rig!! Watching this thread with great interest!

You need a white board in your garage, the list is never done it just changes.

Yeah...based on the fact that Im just trying to get this thing wheeling, this will have to do for what I NEED to accomplish.

Looks like a good weekend for you.
One question, why do you use rubber on the bodymounts and not on the cage tie ins?

Quite honestly, I dont know that answer. I would think that you would want as little play in that cage as possible though.

Thanks man! Rounding into the home stretch. Its been a LOOOOONG build and Ill be glad to have it completed.

What he is saying is that you no longer need the body mount bushings. Metal to metal will be fine since the cage is solidly mounted.

I am more more convinced of solid frame tie's over bushings.

That rig is gorgeous. Let me know when you are going to be in Moab and I will come down and run trails with you, I want to see that rig in action.

I agree with this. If the cage is solidly attached to body and frame bushings between body and frame do nothing than hang out. Not saying there is anything wrong with the way you did it cause my cage is solid and body on mounts. But I think either all with bushings or all without would be better.
