I do love the body mounts.:D

Pretty slick. Thin as heck but nothing wrong with that. Id like to pull the bushings out of the orange bitch go help get the body lower for better COG but I don't think its worth the time. :Meh:

Did ya ever see the stock bushings?? They were a piece of burlap or something.

Yea, some rubberish junk designed to wear out.

Depending only on the cage mounts to support the body would result in to much body flex so IMHO you still need the body mounts.
There's a fair amount of flex in an FJ40 frame, the bushings should quiet down the body to frame connections and allow some movement between the body and frame.

I think they were made out of the same material as conveyor belt, basically rubberized canvas.

Yeah.... It'd be easy at this point to pull the bushings out, but.... I bought em, so I'll run em.
Don't think it's gonna matter much either way. I personally feel better w / having them in vs not. Donno why specifically. I just do.

They have it right amigo. However, keeping the body mounts isolated with rubber is still a good thing. You are less likely to rip the mounting parts apart with a bit of isolation there. The body is NOT as rigid as the cage is. So it does need to give a bit even if it is solidly held by the cage.

Sorry for not getting the pics up. I was working on my brothers cooler fishing pole rack lol..

Lol.... So not ALL right. ^^^^^^
What rusty and you had stated was kind of what I was thinking on the topic vs. No rubber mounts at all.

Not an issue in the pics. I don't sit still for too long. :)

That rig is gorgeous. Let me know when you are going to be in Moab and I will come down and run trails with you, I want to see that rig in action.[/QUOTE]

Thanks for the props!! Definitely wannna do Moab in the next couple years, so.... Actually that is one of the deistinations I had in mind when deciding on the motor. Actually, it was originally gonna go in my fj62, but.. It would / will make going to far away trails much easier to get to.

I'll take my FJ60, if I leave now we could meet in the summer of 2012. :grinpimp:

If your rig is done by then:flipoff2:

Great work on the body mounts. With that heater will you still defrost? I see where the two ducts will come out of the dash but is there one that will go up to the windshield? You should really bolck sand teh primer you will kick yourself in ther ass evertime you look at it if you don't at least spend some time on the paint. I felt like I spent a decent amount of time on mine and now I see where another day would have been better but didn't want to waste the time. Like you I only wanted a 10ft paint job, but and really happy how it turned out. Keep plugging away makes it all worth it when you drive it the first time.

Well, yes and no on the defrost. One of the reasons I went with this unit was because I could splice into the ducts to the defrost. The vents that came with the duct kit, I could rotate them up so they could blow out toward the wind shield. I'm gonna see how that goes for a while and see how that works.
Well see on the paint. I plan to start the bondo process this weekend after I take care of some odds and ends. you use 400 grit like mace did on his?

So what was wrong that you couldn't use the factory heater?

I used it's location for the battery tray. Over all it made life much easier.

Man did I EFF up!!!!
Got a lock for the swing out for the open position... Well I decided to mount the spare just to see what clearance I'd have for the knob. I swung the set up out, and the tire hits the tub!!!!! Can't even get the tail gate all the way down. Spent this evening grinding the carrier and fuel basket off!!! FAWK!!!!!

Can you not shift the tire over further the opposite direction of here it swings setting it off to one side so it will swing all the way open?
