No GPS issues so far. I'll be testing it next week with Google Maps/Waze + GAIA On my way to Colorado. Look at pic #3 for mic placement (rear view mirror). I used the factory USB port by the 1/8" headphone jack/shifter.

Hi .. could you please tell me where did you put the actual unit? (the silver box).

I got one of these the other week, but I'm still messing with the install. The directions are not so great, or I'm having an issue figuring them out.
Have it sort of working with google maps, but have not been able to install my actual phone apps on it yet.

There are 4 USB outlets, plus the aux GPS, plus the big silver box. Where did you put the outlets and the silver box?
Did you install the aux GPS on the dash?

I have been eyeing this unit for a while but at $AU 1,000 ($700) I dont think it’s worth it. I have been using an ipad pro magnetically mounted ofver the display and it does what carplay can and can’t

Great that it works. What functionality does this offer me over the stock setup? Genuinely curious seeing as I don’t really see myself having regular conversations with Siri......??

You have Google Maps and Waze on the full screen, either of which is far superior to Toyota's nav system.

Would you be able to post a pic of this setup?

ok here is my first setup with a mini, picture it with a 10.5” Pro...

There are some pictures in this thread that may help: Builds - Heritage Blogmobile Build Thread

Thanks !

I see they Velcro-ed the unit behind the screen. The unit also has it's own GPS antenna which is not mentioned. Instruction could use some improvement.
Our units didn't come with any instructions. I'll get pics on the next install for the thread.

Why would the Naviplus unit need it's own GPS antenna? The GPS in the connected iPhone or Android device will be used for CarPlay and Android Auto apps. This is also the first I've heard of multiple USB ports. Are you sure you're talking about the same device (keep in mind this thread is discussing the version for 2020 LC's, which may be very different from the version for 2016 LC's)?

After seeing @BloggerL build thread for his Heritage Blogmobile I had to jump on the NaviPlus unit.

Do steering wheel controls work for music going through CarPlay? What about holding down the phone button? Does that still work to make an audible command for a call? Everything else in vehicle work fine and not affected by addition of NaviPlus?

NaviPlus also have unit to support early LC200 too. LC200 owner prior to 2016 don't feel left out.

I was trying to find the tech spec of NaviPlus unit. Not sure what hardware they are running. CPU/RAM info would be nice.

here it is with the iPad Pro
- Smart Cover easily attaches to dash speaker cover via built in magnets
- power adapted with magnetic quick connect and clip on dash to allow easy flip up of iPad to view reverse camera and access to OEM unit
- I use wifi calling on other device to enable native calling from the iPad cellular plan
- split screen music with maps
- slide over for iMessage and other apps
iPad Pro on dash

The short answer is you can download your apps to the Naviplus, and they can run on the NaviPlus independent of the phone.

The above version is different.

I have this one here

There is an option to enable steering wheel control:

Two questions:
1. Does this work with the rear entertainment system?
2. Eric, can you please bring Kilroy's pepperoni sticks? Love, a former Hoosier living in Denver.
1) I don’t think so, put I’ll let you know
2) maybe 🤔

@Eric Sarjeant

Nice to see Car Play is working well too! I've only tested Android Auto in my own build.

It would be interesting to do an audio quality test of wireless Car Play vs wired Car Play.

One big downside of the wired connection required for Android Auto when using the Naviplus is slow charge speed. But I'm working on a pin splitter that will allow my phone to be on a wired connection and pull charge from a higher power USB while maintaining a separate wired data connection with the head unit.

I wonder if you could use a Qi charger for power and a cable for the audio. Not sure if that’s possible or if Qi shuts down in the presence of the cable.
