How accurate is he on the constant oil leaks in the underbody? I just got one and was going to to start chasing down the leak around the transfer case, tranny and axles.
The leaks will all go away when you refer to them as rust abatement.

rust abatement.
A rose by any other name...
You should work on keeping your axles mostly dry, I gave up on the tranny and transfer cases (I have more than the usual number of transfer cases).

My driveway is never going to need to be resealed

We bought a '78 new and kept it 21 years. I learned early on to live with drips from the front knuckles to the rear diff. Refrigerator boxes were part of my life. When we bought Miss Scarlet in 2017, she wasn't just dripping she was bleeding to death. Replaced valve cover and pan gasket. Then did the knuckles, rear main seal along with tranny and transfer case gaskets. Got to agree with the guy in the video, she was only dry less than a year. Now, I just change her cardboard and wipe out her bed pan every month or so.

I view it more as a doctor vs. veterinarian. Todays crap has 3 computers to manage 57 other computers so it can tell you what it thinks is wrong vs you put hands on it and listen to it.

Why don’t we ever talk about Zappa?

That’s quantum theoretical garage stuff right there. Dip your toe in that pool to deep and you wake up at St Alphonso’s eating pancakes.

I’ll just hang around until you found I didn’t know nothing.

No 40 series I've ever owned leaked oil after I've owned it long enough. If repaired correctly and maintained well using only Toyota parts, nothing will leak. If you replace a leaking seal with the cheapest Chinese replacement you can find because 'Toyota parts just cost too much', then I agree: you'll never get a 40 to stop leaking.

The rear main was the only chronic leak my 2F had and the rear output seal on the transfer case was taken care of as soon as I realized the parking brake was not holding. Got the parts and took care of that seal.

The rear main leaked for over 100K miles and I should have had the dealer fix it under warranty when I took it back to Cheyenne for its first oil change. But with the volume of oil in the system it never ran dry and just kept it topped off. The clutch was still original when it took it apart for the repower (I know what to use a manual without burning or wearing out a clutch). With that said the clutch disc was warn but not done yet.
When the 2F was replaced with the 155F and could see the rear main it looked like at least half of the circumference was leaking.

In 45 years of ownership, I have yet to buy a genuine OEM part twice.

How can he claim you have to drain the evil green coolant and replace with pink? Does he recall what coolant might have been sold in 1978? Sheesh. I like the CCN, but he's occasionally nuts.
