New camping gear: Brown Paper Bag

I moved over to Dewalt stuff mostly for the impact and the 12v battery charger.

12V MAX* - 20V MAX* Lithium Ion Vehicle Battery Charger - DCB119 | DEWALT

However, @2fpower turned me on to a couple items that will be able to go on a long trip with us and utilize the same batteries and same charger:

Fan that you can use in the shop on 110 and also remote with battery:

Chainsaw that is cleaner/easier that most gas small chainsaws, and still powerful:

I've been looking at the electric chainsaws. If you've invested in LiION batteries from a specific manufacturer already, it makes perfect sense to get the matching chainsaw. I've got a Makita drill and impact. I'm looking at their chainsaw options with and without batteries.

I think Makita is also one of the few others to do a 12V DC battery charger so you could charge without using an inverter - -but an inverter is probably fine, too.

This stuff is expensive, so the hope would be I could sell other stuff and combine/simplify.

Video of the 12" I just found - bonus is a Troopy in the video :)

Kinda reminds me of using a handgun vs a rifle - little scarey there LOL.

Fan has so many uses too..... for those nights it is too warm, you turn that on in the tent. For the rain that got in the tent the next morning, you can help to blow your sheets dry. For the campfire that just wont start, you add that airflow and you have a raging fire. You can also try to blow the smoke another direction too; however, it tyipcally finds beauty anyway. Then to cool you down as your under a hood changing out a radiator, it feels really nice on a hot day.

For the lazy . . er I mean people who buy K-Cup's all the time 'cause they own a B&B and hate camp-fire clean up:

https://www.amazon.com/Presto-02835...8&qid=1534965699&sr=8-1&keywords=presto++myjo

Boilwater - press it through your Kcup. Compost your green Kcup below when you get home - or toss it . . .

Recommended Kcup:

Its actually decent coffee vs the rest of the Kcups

We had a bunch of these SnoMasters for 36 Hours of Uhwharrie, both for cold water and for icecream. In that amazing heat, they all worked flawlessly. And they look good as hell too. One of them was raffled off for volunteers, and a great guy won it. The large ones hold 80 water bottles. 80. Cold. Water bottles.

Thanks for all the good information! Just spent the last 1 1/2 hours going through this thread and came away with 15 items I will/may need for the trailer. Looks like the budget will get stretched!

Stealing a good idea from Staples Intents, using a rug inside the tent to prevent the tent floor damage. Will be living in my tent for 9 days or so in a few weeks, and was looking to replace the floor on my Gazelle T4+ when I found the idea of using a rug or picnic blanket inside. The Gazelle floor seems to scour easily, specially with a cot and kitchen inside. So will be testing the one below inside the tent.

Picnic Blanket

You can also use those harbor freight anti fatigue squares. those could have many uses around camp, and not absorb water. they break down into an easy to store solution too

Harbor Freight sells wool blankets for $10 and they are actually super nice. They smell like a Chinese machine shop but if you wash them before you use them, they fluff up a little and smell a lot better. I bought one for each vehicle and I plan to install one across the tent bows of my RTT between the tent fabric and the bows to add insulation and cut down on condensation dripping down from above. Wool is hard to beat for its insulating properties. It does not harbor mold. It would make a good tent carpet as well for a ground tent...and it would be lighter than a rug or rubber mat.

Recently I switched from a heater to a small dehumidifier for the camper. Makes for an amazingly dry and warm night. The propane or electric heaters with my breath generally meant a damp interior. Which sucks.

I ran both the heater and the dehumidifier the first night of 20 degree camping and the heater ended up being unnecessary, turning itself off with the 65 degree thermostat and staying off for the rest of the night.

I got this one pictured as a refurbished unit for about $110. Has a % humidity setting (started the night at 70ish, set it for 40% and it ran most of the night). Or a time setting (2 hours-8 hours I believe). Quiet in the low fan setting but still not as quiet as I would have liked.

I plan on drilling a hole in the floor of the camper for the drain tube... I’ll likely have a T on that tube with a funnel as a handy solution to those middle of the night ‘I don’t wanna freeze, but nature is calling’ type moments.

Edit: just realized this isn’t for my truck... but the same logic would apply - assuming you can find an appropriately sized dehumidifier that will run on the available power source that you have.

Using a dehumidifier as a heater. That's pretty damn schmart. Will have to squirrel that tidbit away, thanks man!!

Chinesium, smell like lead Flint water paint? I know that smell!!! The one I got for the tent has a rubber bottom and blankie top. I did get another 9x14 with wolfeses and bears and trees for the canopy, thought it more appropriate. I use Amazon - business purchases.

@jamesurq Just added another item to the camping trailer buy list. Thanks for the tidbit of information. The knowledge on these forums is fantastic!

My window unit in our teardrop has a dehumidification setting, and it has come in handy to keep condensation from building up

@jamesurq , which pulls more amps? the heater or dehumidifier?
