The AC version is different.View attachment 4135717
Part number 16400-49356
Ah. What’s different? The AC version is different.
Unfortunately not rebuildable. Both tanks bad.IIRC there was 1 for sale in eastern Canada 8 months ago, shipping will be the killer
have you tried SOR?
can yours be re-cored by a good rad shop
I keep the new OEM 16400-49356 radiators in stock, and inexpensively. They are the same part number on a middle east-spec 40's with factory AC and work well. We've done several AC installs with them without issues. I think the wider radiators for AC is only a US market thing. I wouldn't stress about it too much.
Not sure what you mean by oxbow? but probably
I also have correct 10mm brake booster hose, 90-degree booster fitting, correct master cylinder, etc etc. to fix all that![]()
Not the same as a USA AC radiator.per @cruisermatt :
Radiator, shroud and condenser bolt on to a wider radiator support .per @cruisermatt :
It might be fine for middle east heat in smaller countries but with our freeway system and ability to drive for hours and days, Toyota decided the additional 1.5" in radiator and clearance from AC condenser exposes more surface area of radiator to air flow to assist in cooling for US vehicles.i posted as I thought you were saying that while the wider AC was a US market thing, radiator # 16400-49356 works fine on AC installs
Agreed. But I think there was something about clearance with the lower radiator hose? I don’t remember the details, but I think it was @wimberosa who went down that rabbit hole. You won't find one. Just make adapter plates like I did. Works fine
Yes I did. As of now waiting on confirmation that it is in fact a US applicable ac type radiator even though his has ac as his rig is originally from Qatar.I see you found this thread:
For Sale Thread 'FJ45 / FJ40 : Used Radiator'
Pulled from a 1983 FJ45; but will fit most FJ40's. This is an original Toyota radiator.
I needed to repair / plug some holes in my radiator. So I asked a local radiator "specialist" to plug the holes & weld a new drip drain connector, pressure test it, and re-paint it. Unfortunately, he used the "wrong" paint and I lost 2-3C delta on the heat transfer and resulted in my engine over-heating. Eventually, I just replaced the radiator. All you have to do is strip the old paint and re-paint it with the "right" paint.
Radiator is located in Toronto, Canada. Best price + SH...
