Bumps on my 78’s rear tub/fenders?

As much of a purist as I am, after seeing the "headliner" done with white Monstaliner, I would never do it any other way. It brightens up the whole interior and has zero chance of ever separating.

I've been thinking about something along those lines that traditional headliner material could just go over later if preferred. In my mind what would be cool would be a light laminate material that would add strength and sound proofing to the white boat. Maybe more glass on the inside with just the fiberglass finish. Or foam-backed Kevlar - a Kevlar headliner would cost more than the 40 is worth :D.

As usual I have no idea what I'm doing but the patches I'm putting inside seem really strong. Just cleaned the glue around the damage. Weird buying anything that says "Bondo" on the label - I guess they're owned by 3M now. Still need to sand these down. Also have a little gel-coat damage on the outside.

Where have you seen this? Looking for samples.

I'll have to dig around. It's a guy from the CA central valley with an ultra nice resto, dark metallic green with a detailed, injected v8, probably an LT1. Not a stock resto, more like a show car. I've seen it at the stockton swap meet and the PMC swap meet in Petaluma.

Edit: this is the one.

I found other pictures of it in this thread, but no pics of the headliner. https://forum.ih8mud.com/trails-eve...nnual-swap-meet-july-10-2010-petaluma-ca.html

Thx Eddie. So he just monsta-lined the header area?

Cleaning up the off-white steel rail on my hardtop. Did some searching trying to get a handle on the stock color. My outside gel coat and the rail seemed to be the same, aged off-white color. Had my local paint guy camera shoot a clean area on the top (riveted steel visor) and mix up a small amount of Omni which seems to be a close match (over gray EP) to what was there. Looks right, kind of reminds me of the off-white that was stock on my old 80 pickup. Might use this color on the bezel too.

Haven't been able to locate the 7 solid alum rivets to reinstall the visor, short of buying a 250 qty on Amazon.

Got the barn doors and the top back on temporarily :grinpimp: (like everything else). Drivability seems to continue to improve with weight and I think the springs get a little better all the time. Checking fit on the hardtop and looking for leaks, etc. Still need a headliner, a little echoey inside. Don't seem to smell the exhaust anymore with the back closed up.

More prep for the hard California winter :D. Ordered a new windshield washer motor but now wondering if it will be the right one - what I just took off doesn't look like the diagram from Toyota. The PO also had installed (also not working) what I guess is after-market, the little black guy in the photo.

in the first pic, the driver does not look at all enchanted

how bad must it be when you are grumpy

 I just can't keep my mouth shut :o

Was thinking the same thing. Good thing Claudia beat me to the post - I was going to ask who the old, PO'd guy was driving, and was that his daughter. Yep, good thing she asked first.

I may not be my usual jovial self in this shot but there's no need to use the "O" word :D. I probably had just noticed the gas gage or maybe my kid had parked his FJ Snoozer too close to the 40.

stop making excuses, just smile more in your life - if nothing else, it's gonna make the people around you happy

as a matter of fact, studies have shown that if you smile more (even without any reason), you might actually start feeling better after a while :flipoff2: looks like your wife is already trying to do it ;p

New windshield washer motor came in and it looks like a spot on replacement.

Also a new lock and keys for the rear ambulance door, perfect match for the original. The Toyota parts guy said there were a little over a 100 left in the US.

Crap. S'cuse me while I go do something... [Hello, Beno?]

Dumb electrical question (one of many) on my windshield washer motor hook-up. I have the original wires but not the connecter. How do I tell which connection the LY wire goes to, the A or B tab - no marking on the old or the new motor? Is it important?
