Ended up getting an alignment. Turns out my front was a mess. -4 camber and toe pointing separate ways on either side. Previous owner must have hit something, I’ll never know.
Fifteen52s and 285s are back on tho. Hoping sliders get shipped out in the next week or two.

Need some feedback. I got my alignment done but I’m still getting some vibrations on the steering wheel and cabin on the highway (60mph+).

Some history, I got 3 new Falken Wildpeaks and 2 used ones (285/70/17). The used were used for less than 3k miles and it’s mounted on the right rear. I also had the balancing re checked on all 4 wheels and tires and they checked out. I can also feel the vibration with my stock wheels and tires, just less pronounced. The car has 39k miles. Stock suspension, lift hasn’t been installed. Vibration doesn’t feel worse when I brake, but feels a little stronger when going uphill.

I don’t really see/feel bad wearing on the tires (including the used one).

Question is, what can be causing the vibration? Are 285/70 usually shaky on highway speeds? Can the one used tire cause the vibration? What should my expectations be, silky smooth or some shake?

I’m heading back to the alignment shop Monday to get the alignment double checked but wanted to get some opinions from you all in case there’s something I should mention.

It should be smooth. Maybe a wheel took a hit too?

Simple first thing to try is to rotate the tires and see if the vibration moves too.

From what the alignment place said, I have a feeling the previous owner could have hit something but everything looks fine underneath. They were able to align it close to or at 0.

I can rotate and test, that’s a good idea.

Both sliders arrived from Metal Tech but UPS dropped the ball. Scratched one of them up and lost the hardware box. hate to be a pain but I paid good money for brand new sliders, I don’t want scratched up powder coating just yet lol.

Talked to MT today and they seem to be willing to help me out. Hopefully this gets resolved quickly

Maybe not tires at all?
When you say the vibration is more pronounced when going uphill, I’m thinking maybe a driveshaft is unbalanced?

I don’t know. It could be, but I feel like that would be a stronger vibration and would probably feel strong under acceleration I would think. Haven’t rotated my wheels yet, but took the truck to the alignment shop today and they revised their alignment. I also lowered my PSI to 34 all around. I’ll hit a highway later this week to test it out. Thank you for the input 👍🏼

Somehow I spent about 5 hours mounting the Metal Tech non OPOR sliders by myself today! I removed the plastic trim pieces assuming they would slide right back after further trimming but I was wrong. I started with the drivers side since I knew the KDSS lines would be tricky. But when I was done and the slider was tight in place I realized the trim wouldn’t easily fit back on. Eventually, After trimming a few times, I was able to squeeze the trim on the drivers side and then finish the job on the other side. The passenger side took 30 or so minutes.

It was a tight fit but the shield went back on. Is it a problem that the KDSS line shield is touching the slider at that point?

I had to trim the KDSS shield with the cut off wheel to clear the mounting plate on my Slee sliders.

People are having sheet metal issues with the JW tire carrier, just like I imagined one would early on. I wouldn't mess with it personally.

That’s what I was afraid of, don’t want it buckling the door down the road.

I’ve seen a custom mount made on another thread but seems like that member isn’t active any longer. Will have to do more research before moving forward.

Still on the fence about the JWO hatch mount so looking for other options. I found 2 options from www.detoursofmaine.com. From the looks of it, the swing out sits a bit tighter than the Rigd, but I kind of like the knuckleball mount better. I'm waiting to hear back to see if it would allow for the rear door to open as I don't know how low the tire can go down. Here's a picture of how it looks mounted, I added a few lines to show how low it would at least need to fold down for it to work on the GX.

*I'm aware that it may get in the way for loading up stuff up or using the back door table option. But that might also depend on how low it can articulate downwards/sideways.

I'd like to see how they loaded that huge fridge in the back with that tire folded down?
Personally I like the fold down idea, but because of our side swing-out, it would be impossible to have a person on either side a load to man-handle it into the back.
It may help if when folded down, it would lay flat and can support a couple hundred pounds for sitting, prepping, or resting a load before taking it the rest of the way into the back of the rig.

I guess if you make some sort of leg so it has support when it's laying flat you could do that but will def be in the way with the door.
Hoping to hear back soon, but I read he's a one man operation and it may take a while.

For the price, I'm going to try to be patient and not buy something else.

Yep, a "third" leg would probably be required.
It's nice that you have the patience to wait.
Usually it seems that people will have an event/trip planned and are scrambling to get everything done for it.
And of course that just adds to the stress of it all, e.g. yelling at the wife, berating the kids, kicking the dog, over tightening something and breaking it, etc. o_O
Seriously hope this does not apply to anyone here.
