It should be smooth. Maybe a wheel took a hit too?
Simple first thing to try is to rotate the tires and see if the vibration moves too.
Need some feedback. I got my alignment done but I’m still getting some vibrations on the steering wheel and cabin on the highway (60mph+).
Some history, I got 3 new Falken Wildpeaks and 2 used ones (285/70/17). The used were used for less than 3k miles and it’s mounted on the right rear. I also had the balancing re checked on all 4 wheels and tires and they checked out. I can also feel the vibration with my stock wheels and tires, just less pronounced. The car has 39k miles. Stock suspension, lift hasn’t been installed. Vibration doesn’t feel worse when I brake, but feels a little stronger when going uphill.
I don’t really see/feel bad wearing on the tires (including the used one).
Question is, what can be causing the vibration? Are 285/70 usually shaky on highway speeds? Can the one used tire cause the vibration? What should my expectations be, silky smooth or some shake?
I’m heading back to the alignment shop Monday to get the alignment double checked but wanted to get some opinions from you all in case there’s something I should mention.
Maybe not tires at all?
When you say the vibration is more pronounced when going uphill, I’m thinking maybe a driveshaft is unbalanced?
I had to trim the KDSS shield with the cut off wheel to clear the mounting plate on my Slee sliders.Somehow I spent about 5 hours mounting the Metal Tech non OPOR sliders by myself today! I removed the plastic trim pieces assuming they would slide right back after further trimming but I was wrong. I started with the drivers side since I knew the KDSS lines would be tricky. But when I was done and the slider was tight in place I realized the trim wouldn’t easily fit back on. Eventually, After trimming a few times, I was able to squeeze the trim on the drivers side and then finish the job on the other side. The passenger side took 30 or so minutes.

It was a tight fit but the shield went back on. Is it a problem that the KDSS line shield is touching the slider at that point?

Gotta thank @Tex68w for the ideas. Followed his steps and installed 2 LED rock lights on each side using the stock harness. The Metal Tech straight edge on the sliders makes it look photoshopped haha

That’s what I was afraid of, don’t want it buckling the door down the road.People are having sheet metal issues with the JW tire carrier, just like I imagined one would early on. I wouldn't mess with it personally.
I guess if you make some sort of leg so it has support when it's laying flat you could do that but will def be in the way with the door.I'd like to see how they loaded that huge fridge in the back with that tire folded down?
Personally I like the fold down idea, but because of our side swing-out, it would be impossible to have a person on either side a load to man-handle it into the back.
It may help if when folded down, it would lay flat and can support a couple hundred pounds for sitting, prepping, or resting a load before taking it the rest of the way into the back of the rig.
