Seriously? cruiseroutfit
I have been planning on dumping cash into the bodyshop to fill the ‘OEM’ roof rack, rear heater holes and drop a new or sublet the front and rear glass first... but the wife and I delayed a trip to the Redwoods this summer because she figured it would take-out some $3K from the build budget but opportunity and desire help determine logistics...
It would be cool.
I kid you not, the wife has given me two years to get this rig built and start out to witness the country otherwise she said she’ll have divorce papers served.
So long as the offer stands I just might take you up on it. Utah is a stretch for a lift but I am driving down to the San Fernando Valley to pick-up a patch for the headliner. So its not really about cost with me per se.
Logistics are interesting. Pretty cool people are sure to be found along the way.
We have two sizes, 2-2.5" lifts and the 3-5" L variant. Both in stock
Reservoir mounts are a separate kit but cost is negligible
5" if they are the same length of traditional L shocks .?
I had to add great deal of spacers while I was running L with my front 4" comp OME .. IMHO traditional L shocks are good to top 3"
I agree with @Tapage. OME sport L shocks are too short for anything over 3” of lift if up and down travel is to be close to balanced. How can one shock be marketed and sold to use with lifts from 3” up to 5”? I would be much more inclined to drop 2 grand on shocks if they allowed me to choose my down travel limit.
I'm surprised they dont make these adjustable from in the cab like Rancho used to do. Would be a great feature if they did.
With 5” springs and “L” shocks I had 2” of down travel left in the shock. Did I get down the trail? Yes? Was it tuned properly? No.The L shocks have been successfully used on 3-5" kits in thousands of application. Would it be nice if OME (and other manufacturers) made a 0", 1", 2", 3", 4", 5" shock? Of course, in the mean time we deal with what they sort as a "best" marketable offering. If there was enough demand for a L+ shock, they would absolutely make it. As for offering customer specified lengths, I don't see that happening anytime soon as demand for their existing offerings has their assembly going full speed. King and others can build a custom spec bypass shock exactly to your specs in the $3k range. The external bypasses will require additional modifications for clearance but you'll have to sort that.

It would make it a lot easier, especially for the rear shocks on most SUV's which are fairly hard to access without crawling underneath the rig. Fronts aren't too big of a deal to reach in their on most rigs.I suspect we'll see such a thing![]()
And with the recent rise in popularity of certain coil springs that offer us a greater range of travel, a BP-51 that is long enough to allow us to take advantage this, mostly down travel, would probably sell considering the lingering confidense in ARB products. And again, if/when there is enough demand for an L+, we can get them to make them. We've sold 4 and 5" coils for 10+ years. We've sold about 2% as many of those as we have J/3" coils for 80's. When a customer orders a suspension from us we go through a thorough build sheet and discussion and expected down travel with a true measured 5" suspension is high on our list along with the many other items that need adjusting/replacing/extending on a 5" setup.

It would be cool if they did it with air like the rancho shocks used to. Especially since they sell air lockers they could just make it a add on to the arb on board air system. I have a old in cab controller on one of my cruisers with rancho shocks and I'm always changing the settings when on the trail. In cab controlled or not, adjustable shocks on a 80 would be very useful since people load them up for trips but unload them for cruising around town.I'm not sure how they'll do it (given the way the shocks currently adjust) but I know it's on the radar. I'd absolutely love it paired up to the LINX in my 200![]()
@cruiseroutfit can I get a quote on these shocks? I will end up with a roughly 3 inch lift all said and done
