Did you clean out your evaporator under the dash? You want good airflow across both the condenser and evaporator. Those evap boxes can get nasty especially if you have dogs.

Damn Mike, those guys have awesome prices.

Did you have to order and wait? It looks like the Holset stuff isn't currently available.
No, he happened to have one super on hand. Send him an email and he'll call you back, very responsive. Tell him what you're working on and he'll help you figure out a better way if it exists.

No, I haven't. Didn't even think about it actually, but will do it. I broke the negative cable from the starter, and I'm at drill. So I guess I'll be fixing that and doing some general maintenance.

What are you guys with the 4BTs running/recommend?
I've been running this in mine for a few years now.

Thanks, I've not heard of this brand before. I'll look into it.

Replacing the starter cable with this heavy duty 1 gauge. It's the only one that will bolt on without Jerry rigging it. Then oil change time. Going to try the rotella T6 and see if it leaks.

Picture helps.

They have a T6 15-40 now yet I haven’t seen it in a store locally yet. Just the T6 5-40

Wouldn't the 5-40 be better than the 15-40 because it can work in a wider temp range? Or am I missing something?

Yes that is true. Since it’s summertime the 40 number is the important one. There are some 15w-50 diesel oils out there that I’ve always wanted to try in our summertime death heat.

Took her for a drive. Roughly 20 miles, normal hill country drive with the AC on. She held firm at 50* F inside and engine temps at 190*F. I'm thinking if there's no freon leaks this will be my go-to rig in the summer for long distances.

Stopped at a few of our favorite places to take a look. Too many people out, so we left.

Got back home and started messing with the old turbo spring. Its heavier duty than the current one on there, so I'm going to switch them out for now and order a new one.

Anyone know the actual name of this type of spring and where i can get one?

Thanks. I couldn't think of the name. Found similar ones at mcmaster, I'll order some in the morning.

This is more for my record.

And this is just a reminder of why I should stick with conventional oil.

So the 4BT specs sheet says to fill with 10 quarts of oil. I have a remote oil filter, a fleet guard oil filter for the 6bt (longer oil filter) and two turbos with oil hoses.

My question is will adding two more quarts to make up for the hoses and larger oil filler be too much? Thinking of adding STP oil treatment with gasket sealant to help stop that stubborn drip.

I overfilled once by about a quart and it just blew more out the vent hose than normal. I would keep it at the dipstick level.
So thers a built in idiot proof system?

Yes, you're going to have to put more in. Sounds like you can probably start with at least 1 quart and then check/add after a test drive around the block.

I have a genetic dip stick from a Kubota engine. The marks are way off. How else can I check?
