Nope, I've not had that happen to me where the filter just starts leaking. I have a store nearby my place that sells Donaldson stuff and that's what I run for fuel and oil filters.
Any chance you have a part number? It's happened at least once a year.

Here's what I use.

The big one is my prefilter that goes in the line before my lift pump. Probably not applicable in your set up. P551000

The small one is what I use as my main that screws onto the head at the regular position. This should fit your set up too. P550588

Looks like the main difference in the one you listed (15 micron) and the one I use (11 Micron) is how fine they filter.

How often do you replace these?

You can also ditch the water separator and get a filter that doesn’t have one or one that has a manual drain on the filter.

Both of mine are water separators which is probably overkill. I drain those infrequently.

I try to replace my fuel filters about once a year if I'm going to stations that have a good turnover cycle on diesel. I did hit some remote stations this summer on a trip so I might be due some time soon. Not noticing any hesitation for fuel starvation though. They aren't expensive so it's not hard on the wallet.

It’s funny on those fuel filters it says drain daily...

Here's a third world trick I don't think I've ever mentioned that I know works on diesels (not sure about gasoline).

Always carry an extra bar of soap with you on the trail. If you crack your fuel tank, you can rub it over the leaking area and it should cauterize the leak so long as it's a tiny crack an not an actual puncture like a bullet hole. It'll act as a soft wax and should hold long enough to get you to a mechanic.

If I’m shot at up hunting I’ll remember that Mike
Hey man, these are hard learned lessons I'm passing on to you guys

Well this country is headed for a civil war so I appreciate that.
Stock up on ammo and diesel fuel and one bar of soap.

Got a cup holder specifically made for the 62.

I know, I need to clean and organize the interior.

In other news, a.c. is out of Freon.

Looks like my overheating issues are done for the season. The temps dropped from the 90s to the 60s in the last few days (in Texas that's a cold front and everyone will talk about it like it's the freaking apocalypse). Anyway, I drove Big Red around for a while and it took about 30 minutes doing about 60mph for my thermostat to hit 160*. I can tell you the turbos loved the cooler weather and boost built up quicker and higher. I'll see how it does while towing the trailer pretty soon.

Drove Big Red down to San Antonio from Austin. Looks like I got 20.6 mpg this time around. Drove it at between 68 and 78 mph with an occasional 84 mph. Boost was mostly steady at around 14 psi and EGTs were between 800 and 950 except for a few hard accelerations. Engine temps never got above 192*. I'm even more impressed with this rig when I drive my Tacoma and compare mpg and seat of the pants horsepower feel. A 4 cylinder engine from the 80s to the late 90s is outperforming Toyota's latest. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it, but need to start looking at stronger headlights. I'm sure I'll break something soon and eat all my words.

On a separate note, I managed to get Raptor liner for 50% off. I'm thinking of pulling the rear bumper off, cleaning it up and spraying it. But I need time and good weather, so no idea when I'll get to it.
