Your answers are going to vary due to peoples personal prefference. I have an Edlebrock (the old Carter style), I have been told that they are the best once you get them tuned in, however I have seen Holleys and they are able to be tuned without disassembly unlike the Edlebrock. As for performance, either one will get the job done.

i would also have to say quadrajet, cheapest and best out of the box performance. i like my holley alot but it took some time and a little money tunning to get it right.

FWIW, I do not mind my Edelbrock Performer carb - but it does need truck specific setup (which can cost a little to get it dialed in with a carb guy - which I am not) and I have been educated that they do 'need' setting up.

i was researching this a few days ago and read about a guy talking at Moab that said a motorcraft 2150 2 barrel works great . thats all that was said .anybody have an opinion about this carb.

Ran em on several FJ's both on 2F's and 350's, great option

The motorcraft 2150 is great. My brother has one and it is a little better off road than my qjet. As soon as I switch on my propane though, it doesn't matter.

I don't know how you could like your edelbrock performer. I had one for about 2 months before getting fed up not being able to side hill a curb! That was the worst carburetor off road. It was great for around town though.

QuaDrajet. They are relatively cheap and run perfect right out of the box. Small primaries for some decent puttputting mileage, and nice big secondaries for when you really need it.
I've ran a holley before, awesome on flat ground...other than that...crap.
Sure you spend a bunch of time/money to make them work..but why?
I've yet to have any issues with a Qjet at angles.

I have ran the Edelbrock Performer with the off-road needle and seat kit, plugged the bypass between the bowls, and still was not satisfied with the results. The Quadrajet is a very good carb for off-road, hi-camber situations. I purchased my Qjet from Autozone for $159.00, bolted it on and has been running great. I did have to lean it a 1/4 turn, but other than this I have done nothing to it and it seems to be working well. I need to hook up my choke, but for the $$$ it works well.

I have owned a K-5 Blazer with a 350sbc for 26 years now, and used to run almost exclusively with a Blazer crowd until I joined the TLCA in '89.

When I started down the 'modification' path with that truck, I had PLENTY of offers from other guys in the Blazer club to sell me Holleys, Carters and Motocrafts. What I discovered from talking to these guys, most of who had been wheeling their Chevies from the '70s was that they had tried pretty much everything on the market and had ALL gone back to the Q-Jet.

I decided to learn from their experience.:)

Once I took the plunge and rebuilt my Q-Jet myself, I became a fan forever.

I have rebuilt a half a dozen or so now for bbs members; none have been disappointed.

Best

Do you have a number for it. I've been looking to upgrade and this looks like a good choice.
The guys there usually can't find anything without a number.

I've run a Q'jet for years...........great........but I ran into a little problem when going downhill steep, it tried to flood out, solved that with a vacuum operated pressure regulator, Cagle type............then had a little problem on a climb that approached 45 degrees, it started to run out of fuel as the primaries are in the front of the bowl, solved that when I turned the Q'jet around, now it is the perfect carburetor.

my Q-jet had incline problems so about a year ago I bought a Holley Truck Avenger which alledged it was made for 4x4ing. Had it a year and aside from having to actually read the installations directions when I stuck it on, I'm happy with it's performance, especially crawling.
