Transmission shop got back to me. Looks like I roasted the ‘4/5/6 clutches’ and scratched up the pump stator a little.

4/5/6 clutches:

1/2/3/4 clutches for comparison:

Stator scratches:

So it sounds like they should be able to have the parts on hand and the scratches machined out of the stator by Tuesday morning. They said I might even be able to pick it up Tuesday night if everything goes to plan!

I really hope it all works out and I can still make SAS!
No minute like the last minute! Hope it all goes to plan- looking forward to seeing you guys!

Got the transmission stabbed in tonight…what a pain doing this solo!
I had to keep the trans and transfer separate to be able to get the trans on the jack and mated up by myself. Hoping the transfer goes in easy tomorrow 🤞.

Transmission is in and working!

Everything went pretty smooth but it was a little bit of a pain lining up the t-case and mating it to the trans.

The only real mishap was that the wires for my center diff lock motor (I use it for the 4wheel drive function) must have broke when we removed the t-case. They were old and frayed and two of them were no longer attached when it was time for installation.

Was able to take the top cover off and expose the contacts underneath.

Pulled that out and removed all the rubberized goop from it.

Soldered some new wires on.

Used a little Toyota Red to make my own waterproof gasket deal.

Back together…and it works.

Glad I saw this before the t-case was installed. That would have been a huge pain to deal with under the truck.

So I drove the Bean about 50miles and it seems to be working well. I’m going to try to drive it a bunch before we leave for Ouray.
🤞🤞🤞🤞

Just now coming across this build thread. Absolute sweet ride! Our rigs are very very similar so it's super cool to go through this and compare. Definitely have some ideas to add to mine now haha

Thanks! Sounds like you’ll be at SAS this year. You have a build thread?
Yes sir it'll be my first time at SAS! I do not, I have thought about starting one similar to yours showing different trips and any mods. But my knowledge and skill is far from yours haha Mostly been doing them on instagram. But here's the link to my build from the original owner Doug Delong at Well Sorted before he sold it to Brian at Goose Gear (who I acquired it from in 2023).

Super excited for SAS and to see Bean in person!

Dang, that’s a sweet truck! Haven’t seen it in real life, but have seen plenty of pics on here.
See you soon!

Likewise! Gonna have some fun until August to go through your thread to learn about any restoration/mods like yours. Looking forward to it!
Cheers

Your truck has been to SAS already, so its only fair you go!

I haven’t posted in a while so I thought I would do a small photo dump of SAS9 (Aug. 2025) since I never posted any pics. I’m sitting on the ferry right now coming back from visiting some family up north.

Camping near the snake River our first night:

Toquerville Falls in Utah - our second night of camping. This was a gem!

Third night - on our way through Utah we found a nice reservoir that was secluded. Had a fun trail to it as well!

This year at SAS we didn’t do any hard trails…just focused on stuff we hadn’t done before. We went out to some really cool lakes!

On the way back we hit up some great camping as well.

It was a great trip even though the lack of pics would suggest otherwise.

Our only complication was a somewhat sizable front crank seal leak. I addressed that with a new seal and harmonic balancer this winter and it’s been great so far.

This spring (Early April 2026) we took a trip to Death Valley and had an amazing time.
We went with my dad and his new GX550, @gt7058a and @NookShneer. My dad and I put a set of Dissent Off-road sliders and front/rear bumpers on the GX before the trip.

Most of these photos were taken by me, but there are some that were taken by Dave and Chris in this batch, so they get credit too!!
