This is what I got for when I get done with my build. Even has a touch screen

Do you have a plan for mounting that screen? How heavy is it?

My concern, not necessarily based on experience, with a mirror mounted camera would be the effects of glare on a bright, sun shiny day.

You can mount to the original mirror or use the supplied mount, if your current mirror is pretty tight I would not see any problems strapping the replacement over the one you have . I haven’t checked how the replacement mount will fit.

Can’t remember if your rack on the back of your ute also has a roof like the one you had on mine. If it has a roof I probably would not worry about glare.

The radio glare in my 80 is awful. No way to use it as backup camera screen. Hopefully the same radio is better in 75 since the radio is higher and more in drivers vision.

Some of those back up rear views fit over your existing mirror, others completely replace them. There's a TON of these types of mirrors for sale. Just search Amazon. Most come with navigation and a dash cam built in. I think some even run a form of Android.

I'll be happy with a basic backup camera. I'm old school and my idea of navigation is a State Farm road atlas. :)

Screens play a big part with glare.......I switched out of the Sony AX200 into the 5000 for the better screen. It's way sharper and clearer.....I can see it in the day pretty easily. The 200 was impossible to see....very washed out. I'll check with one of my stereo buddies to see who's got the best screen clarity these days.

I need to look into this too, visibility out the back of my SWB is terrible. What's the biggest mirror replacement type one around? Plenty of space to use above a 70 windscreen. I have the perfect place for a camera on the extendable pole next to my reversing/work light.

Is anybody using a reversing camera that displays on a phone or tablet? I usually have my Android tablet on the dash for nav & music. Something that would beam a picture to that could also be good but I'd want the camera to be powered off the vehicle rather than batteries.

Cheers
Clint

I’m running the 5000 in 80. I’m going to look into a anti glare screen protector.

I run this Pioneer head unit but you can't because of your antiquated metal dash :)

I have one in my metal dash and didn't have to modify anything... The facia was cut by the PO to fit a single-din CD player but it fits right in with no issues. I also have a Pioneer back up camera.

I also have a Pioneer Carrozzeria 2 DIN head unit in my GRJ76, and the Pioneer backup camera. I have mine mounted at the top of the right rear door looking down, so it can see beyond the rear wheel. It's hard to see but it's right there below my 3rd brake light.

A beautiful 76 Series.

I just ordered this one: WIFI Reversing Camera

Don't need the plate surround obviously but it seemed to fit the bill for something 12V powered & displays on an Android device. Cheap enough to give it a try. No doubt it's somewhere on Aliexpress for 1/10 of what I paid here in NZ :hillbilly: but my quick search didn't find much & international shipping is a bit of a gamble at present.

Cheers
