Fellas,

I didn't read the entire thread but wanted to let y'all know that Yakima has a real nice, universal awning mounting bracket that might interest some of you. SlimShady Clamp Assembly I picked up a Slim Shady awning at the REI garage sale and it came with this mounting solution that is lovely. It works with any bars/shapes/sizes regardless of OEM or aftermarket and requires no tools. It does require a fair bit of real estate though, meaning you can't put a RTT right next to the awning. There needs to be about a six inch gap between the awning and your RTT/Cargo box/etc. I can post up a pic if anyone wants one.

Up until this point, I've been mounting my Ironman 4x4 awning using their generic L brackets to the factory cross bars on the 4Runner.

Anyway, just a FYI.

@alia176 unfortunately it doesn't look like this bracket will swivel so that you can run an awning off the back.

Yup, you're correct. I thought someone made a swivel deal for awnings, maybe it was a DIY thing?

Yes to a pic please. I was just showing a buddy my 270 awning yesterday and then we were crawling all over his Jeep trying to see what his options could be. A pic (or three) would be helpful for sure!

Made these so I can move my ARB 2000 from the side to the rear. I like the extra coverage this provides off the back. More details in my build thread.

I just got a RhinoRack sunseeker 2.0. I was considering the one to deploy off the back, but utimately chose the sunseeker for better shaded area. I've been following 80/20 rack builds and have a few ideas how to do that, BUT a buddy looked at the factory rails and their slotted in our 120s and they fit Unistrut cam nuts (the 1/4" fine but the 3/8" with a little grinder action. I took my Rhio Rack supplied mounting hardware and bent the one bracket and was able to mount it low-profile on the factory side rails.

Has anyone figured out a solution for mounting a Rhino Rack Batwing to our stock rack? I know Rago Fab makes an awning support bracket for the stock rack, but explicitly say that it does not work with the Batwing. I haven't found anything searching here or on GXOR.

I know some people have u-bolted brackets to the stock bars, but has anyone done that with the Batwing or other 270 awning? I'm probably going to pick one up and just figure it out, but I'd prefer not to reinvent the wheel when I don't have to.

I'm running LFD crossbars and bolted my batwing on using the standard pioneer tray brackets. I drilled an extra hole in the bracket so that it would be mounted with four total bolts instead of just two.

You can try using the Rhino Rack 31103 bracket. It should be long enough to extend out to clear the side rails and all you would have to do is drill a few holes into your factory crossbars to mount. You would be using regular bolts and not the u bolts.

Here is an example of my mounting setup using the LFD crossbars and pioneer tray bracket.
