Installing new ARB front bumper on FJ62. The ARB brackets fit my frame, but the leaf spring mount covers the rear mounting hole. It looks like the PO may have altered the front leaf spring mounts. The mounts are to far forward. Thoughts on a work around?

The shackle won't allow the bracket to slide over the frame. The only work around I can think of is to grind down the included spacers and slide the bracket on top of the lower rail. This will raise the height of the bumper, but it looks like you can adjust the height when you install. The instructions show 3 height settings. Thoughts?

Thanks Sawtooth55LC. I mocked up the spacer work around and it works as far as attaching the brackets. I'm only able to use one bolt on the bottom. It is stable and solid. Once I get the bumper installed I will know if it all works together. First I have to make a trip to Home depot for longer bolts.

One thing missing from the ARB front bumper are D-Ring anchors. Has anyone added D-Rings?

interesting about the D ring anchors. The older ARB style bumpers have them. When they changed the design of the bumpers for pedestrian safety they must have removed the anchors due to some sort of injury they provided.

On the rear of my 60 I used a bar that bolt to the frame and extended thru the bumper for my D rings. Since the bumper is only 1/8 to 1/4 thick I opted to have the bar go all the way thru. I would not want to stick an anchor to the surface of the ARB only. It may bend the metal.

The bar I used was about 2 inches wide and 3/4 inch thick. It went onto my frame by about 10 inches. Like I said on the back bumper I made.

SO on the front you need to see if you can take a bar to bolt to the frame and extend it thru the bumper.

Or just use the winch for all the pulls. Its there to be used.

The old ARB bumpers had lower loops in them but they aren't strong enough for recovery with shackles. I contacted ARB about them (pic is of my bumper) and they said not to use for pulling, towing, winch yoke or pretty much anything else. All they are good for is for attaching the winch hook when the cable is stored.

The two tow hooks and tow hook mounting locations on the uprights are very strong. These are the recovery locations. You can get tow hooks with strap keepers to keep the strap (formed into a yoke on both hooks) in the hook.

I just noticed in the OPs picture you can see the d anchor points on this new bumper. They are recessed and inline with the frame. Little boxed areas.

Yeah. The new style bumpers have them too but like the old style, they are too flimsy to use for recovery purposes. Best to attach a hook to the frame.

The two bottom holes are cut into VERY thin metal. I'm pretty sure that I can bend the metal with a good pair of pliers. If you installed D-rings it would be for show only. I need a true anchor point when I use a snatch-block to winch.

I have the older style and have to address this at some point.

Here are the options I have been looking at:

Weld-Thru Clevis - Shackle Mounts - D-Ring

Bumper Clevis

I plan to line these up with the outside frame rails and weld front and back of the bumper, as well as bolt thru the frame to attach.

Looks good.

I had the EXACT same issue (MaF weld-on shackles up front) and opted to not buy the used Gen1 ARB for my rig.

yours looks solid. glad it turned out.
