About a thousand degrees today in LA (lower Alabama). First round of pressure washing frame complete. A few decades of California dirt slowly getting washed away. Amazed of how much original black paint still on frame.

Nice! Looks like you still have some electrical components in place? Water/crud/etc. incursion is why I ask, esp. with pressure washing.

Question: When I swap out for the '79 axles... What all does this require? I'll look when I get home but, I'm guessing the flanges are different (driveshaft to axle). Will my original leaf springs mate up to the new axles? I know I need one of @landcrusher909 's spacers for the boosted, double reservoir BM! :D Then, there are the associated 10mm brake lines versus 9mm....
Om on it LOL

1979 axles will go under her. Thx @wngrog for the complete rear brake setup. I’ll need to figure out the front brake situation. I’m betting I need EVERYTHING; rotors, shoes, calipers, hard/soft lines. And I’m sure I’m not thinking of other things…. Bearings, knuckles, steering, etc etc.

Only took another 2.5 years to tear these down. I had two sets of 79-83 axles to choose from. One had selectro hubs and the other ASCO. Going with that ASCO set. Will order parts tomorrow. While waiting for parts, I’ll wire brush, clean, and paint.
Knuckle rebuild kit
Brake rotors
Brake shoes
Rubber lines
Maybe a hardline set
Wheel bearings/seals
Tie rod end kit

I already have:
Coral seat covers (SoR)
Old man emu lift kit
Offy w/ sd40s
Etc, etc.

Questions: I thought I read somewhere that an FJ80 brake master is a good swap when going disc/drum axle? Where should I source a booster if at all? I’m all ears for suggestions and tips! Or anything I should be considering…Thx.

Can't help with a source, but the 80 master and booster combo worked great on both my FJ45 and FJ55. On the RHD ( which mine were/are) you need to clearance the rib on the firewall and either change the bolt pattern on the firewall to go from 3 to 4 bolt, or use an adapter and lengthen the piston rod.

Daniel, I would just do a stock 40 booster with a FJ60 master. That is what we use all the time.
We have them in stock along with all the other parts you listed if you would like to support a Relic Run sponser :)

It is well past time for an update. Lots has happened in the last month with my 1965 FJ45.

With the help of YouTube and a couple members, I’ve rebuilt my front and rear axles. Knuckle rebuild. New brake rotors, reconditioned calipers with new hardware and shoes. I wire wheeled the housings and other bits and brushed on Eastwood’s rust encapsulator in matte black. I am impressed with this stuff and highly recommend it. Once I got the axles rebuilt, I staged them under my powder coated frame (2/3 years ago?). I had most of an OME 45 lift kit that I bought from Nolen a few years back. I’ve made a couple of cruiseroutfitters purchases. I just bought a couple things from Mark @65swb45. I’m still realizing that I’m missing stuff and I’m discovering it on the fly which sucks. I bought 4 steel wheels from Toyota. I bought 4 new Kenda Klever 33x9.5x15’s suggested by Nolen.

So with what I’ve done so far I should have a rolling chassis. Well, once I get wave number two from cruiser outfitters. I do need a few things that I hope the 45 guys might help me with:
X1 front ubolt plate
Motor/transmission mount bolts
X1 male end red seat belt

I’ll also need guidance and suggestions as I struggle to get this poor gal back on the road… likely since the 70’s/80’s. Here are a few pics from the past few weeks.
