Did you already buy all the SOA brackets? The perched on those housings look homemade and not really long enough, and I think you will have axle wrap issues with the heavy powerful motor and those short perches. Less spring contact area means more chance of “W” shape.

I have the Ruff Stuff Kit at my house

The shifter finally arrived

I have the same shifter on my NV4500. Make sure you use some blue (medium strength) threadlocker on where it threads to the shift tower. Mine was loosening up no matter how hard I tightened the jam nut.

Great tip
Thanks Matt

Craigslist is always nerve racking but the seller text me his address. Should be able to pick it up Saturday afternoon. About 3 hr drive to his place.

As of now the rug has been pulled out from under me on the axles. The guy text me late last night at almost midnight saying he can’t sell the axles because he was given a motor home and can put them underneath??? Like store them under them? Craigslist is a joke, I had the deep feeling this was gonna happen. Still trying to get ahold of him.

That sucks. Happens to everyone tho. I had an agreement to buy a Miata for a smoking too good to be true price (divorce deal. Woman just wanted it gone.) On my drive to get it she calls and told me it was sold. Pulled the rug out indeed.

Maybe it will work out yet.

Found an FJ80 rear axle in local area. Like the upgrade of disc brakes. Need to order the Marlin Crawler High Steer Kit, $479 for standard 17MM, upgrade to 25MM HD adds about $225. Six shooter knuckles...another $471 for them, not sure yet.

Just purchased 80s rear axle with the entire eBrake cable. Guess I’m going have the fun of cutting off all the hardware. Owe well, have plasma cutter, oxy/ acetylene torch and grinders at work.

Why use the 63" springs? Are your old fj60 leafs bad?
Front are flat and worn. Move rears to front for better suspension for the 4BT. Good reviews of others who have put 63s in the rear. Not all set in stone yet and I’m sure things can change.

Nice to feel like some parts of the SOA swap are finally coming together. Took night away from kids to take the misses up to my favorite place Timberline Lodge on the south slopes of Mt. Hood. Nice evening stroll up the Magic Mile. Crossed the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail). We plan to hike this when our kids graduate high school. Awesome views, dinner and company. Their buffalo chicken and bacon bread bowl was amazing. Winter season passes are now on sale. Winter is on its way.
