Builds A 60 Runs through it…

The degree kit you order doesn’t really matter in my opinion, the only difference is that plate that goes under the passenger side perch and I am not a fan of it. I didn’t use it in my conversion and slowed me to drop that spring perch 1/4-1/2” on the axle tube. If you want to use it you have to grind the hell out of it for it to fit.

That steering box will work, and an 80 TRE will work with the 80 box obviously, but it won’t fit into the 60 passenger side TRE. The tapers are different.

$150 is a lot for two TREs.. Like I said, it may just be more straight forwards to convert everything to the GM 1-ton ends with the Ruffstuff kit.
Trying to get this all figured out. This must be the kit your talking about. This would work with the 80s PS gearbox?

They don’t just fit, no.
You would have to change the taper in the pitman arm and steering arms. Theres a specific GM reamer out there for this.

Got it. I’ll start looking. If you know where to find it that’d be great.

Hojack, wait a minute. You're going to put this 80 box on before or after you go SOA?

That's the answer I was hoping you'd come up with. Forget all the one ton tie rod stuff, reamers and whatnot, it's not necessary. Buy the Marlin (or whomever) high steer setup with steering links for a FJ60. It will most likely, if not certainly, come with FJ80 tie rods. When you put the FJ80 steering box on your truck, with the stock pitman arm, everything will just bolt together.

Yeah there’s no high pinion third member that bolts into a 60 housing.

And do what @GLTHFJ60 said with the FJ80 ends. I didn’t realize the Marlin steering arms were setup for crossover steering.

@cruisermatt and @GLTHFJ60

I have the Chevy 63 springs for the rear.
I’ve ordered the Ruff Stuff SOA kit 0 degree caster.
I was going to order the Marlin Crawler FJ60 highsteer Kit.
@Deathvalleypaul has an 80s gearbox with pitman arm.
Anything else to make this happen?

Ruff Stuff SOA kit arrived today.
Looking at a diesel stamped fuel cap. Think it’d be a good idea or I could just by a sticker for inside on fuel door.

My dad just caught a monster 40 pound Fall Chinook in the Columbia. We’ve caught ones close to 50 pounds in years past but fish size and the run is dwindling. River temp is 72F.
