Got out into the Uintas to shake down the LX and take our son on his first camping trip. All prep for HIH. Everything went great. Now clean everything, repack, and drive to Silverton.

@paflytyer yes, that is the newest issue of Toyota Trails. Arrived just before we left. Made for perfect weekend reading.

I would expect at least some rain every day. And a lot of rain at least one of the days. Definitely bring a rain coat, and put the rain fly on the tent, etc.

Sweet fj40 sighted in Wellington CO on 25 south

Heading up towards Molas Lake today. Going to camp there with @ga12r1 and his family. Elijah is dying to be fishing, so good thing we will be a lake the next two days. Going to try to hit a couple creeks on the way up as well. And I just bought a non-resident annual fishing license....maybe the cost will be more ammunition in trying to get my wife to move here! 😜
I was struggling with that $107 price tag for a non-resident + Habitat Stamp and just went with a 5-day.

Just wanted to confirm again we can have wood fires at camp? I need to know whether to pack my solo stove or a propane campfire.

Thanks!

Dark Sky, which does a solid job of hour-by-hour precipitation forecasting has this to say:
- WED at 76% with rain starting around 3p
- THU at 83% with rain starting around 4p
- FRI at 56% with rain starting around 6p
- SAT same with SUN and MON looking really nice (less than 10% chance of rain)

Wood fires, but not in the ground. Being your solo stove or propane fire

Solo stove it is! Firewood should be easy to find in town I'm assuming.

The #southerncruisers have landed in Silverton via an overnight in Sawmill Canyon, lunch in lake city, then over Cinnamon/California passes.

The snow and avalanche / slide damage is unreal. Gonna be a great year.

Currently have HiHQ under stakeout.

@ntsaint we’re posted up in Ouray. Had to abandon last nights camp spot because of mosquitos.

Heading to the hot springs pool tomorrow before heading over the pass to Silverton.

Endured 12 hours in the car with the kids yesterday and arrived in Ironton just before dark. Headed to black canyon of the gunnison tomorrow, hopefully some trails wed am. Super excited for Wednesday afternoon!
