For those who haven't been and might be worried about how difficult or scary some of the trails might be, don't be. I've been to three HIH, two of them in a stock LX with AHC...I did A LOT of stuff in my stock LX last year that I thought for sure would have broken something...but nothing broke! I VERY highly suggest getting on the Clear Lake as your first trail...especially with @marcfj60 as the leader!

Second’ed! Clear lake with @marcfj60 is definitely the way to start.

long day but worth it.........

I agree 100%! @willbt was an amazing trail guide! That day really made me upset I was leaving the next morning! I'll be spending more time there this year!

I really want to go! I’m on a flight a Sunday evening but should land in just enough time to register.

I’m gonna admit I’m a bit intimidated. While I’ve been on this forum for about a year, I don’t know anyone going in real life. I feel like I’m showing up to a party where everyone knows everyone. I’m a novice with my 100. I know any cruiser owner I meet in public is super cool but it’s just a big commitment to drive 800 miles and take a week vacation with strangers. Anyone in the same boat, or better yet, was last year and can speak to that?

I'm looking forward to meeting you. My wife and I were in your boat two years ago. She was particularly concerned since she is not a petrol head or that much into gear. We had the most fantastic time and it was due to the people. Stan and Chris have built something special with HIH. Extremely welcoming, appropriate for all types and zero sense of being an outsider.

I'm on the same boat. I recently acquired my 100 series and I've been lurking on the forum for a while, but don't know anyone here personally.

I'm excited to go, but hoping my friends in a Taco and 4Runner want to/can make it as well.

I am planning to go this year. I have not made it for the last four years, but I made it a priority for this year and I plan to bring along my dad. I hope to get a spot and possibly sync up with the #southerncruisers group, as I will also be coming from Alabama.

this will be my first year going to HIH but I wont be able to buy my tickets until Tuesday (payday for me is Monday night). I'm on a teacher's budget so I just can't swing it before payday. I keep reading that the event will sell out. Is there a way to get on the waiting list right now so I can even get a ticket? I do have a paypal account... maybe I can put it on my Paypal credit acct?

@bluecruiser @paflytyer Any chance in having some of the old HIH6/7/8 windshield decals available? I'd love to retain that streak of stickers after getting my windshield replaced.

How fast does this fill up? I, unfortunately, have a flight right about the same time as the sign up on the 10th.

HIH7 was around 90 seconds to 3 minutes if I remember right. HIH8 seemed to go a little longer. It'll go real fast.

Hey man - just as my own anecdote - my friend (who actually owns the 100), myself, and two others went to HIH8 last year for the first time, without having met anyone on the forum in the flesh before. I was slightly apprehensive as well as I wasn't even a mud member (I literally just made an account yesterday) - but I will say that literally everyone we interacted with were pretty cool cats. It's not a bunch of bros with more money than brains - there are plenty of small families and people from all walks. You will undoubtedly make a handful of connections and friendships during that short time and just have a blast camping out for a few days.

We basically barely knew much about offroading and everyone was super helpful. Even while our asses were all stopped on Black Bear with a flat tire from my buddies #durafails, haha.

I enjoyed it so much that I am looking to find my own 100 so I can bring the family this year or next year at the latest!

There will be a waiting list once it fills up, but there is no waiting list before tickets go on sale. Not positive if they accept paypal on the site, but @bluecruiser would know for sure

Just holla

Part of why I love this event is the general tone of the 100 community. It's very different than other car enthusiast crowds I've been involved with and all for the better. There are no egos, no "bros", nobody talking down to less experienced or knowledgeable attendees and nobody looking to prove anything. Stan and Chris are very welcoming and friendly and I think that trickles down throughout the entire event.

On my first HIH (HIH6) I only knew @Kyle Bell . Otherwise, everyone was just a random stranger with a screen name I might have recognized. I'd say if you can find someone else to convoy with you or someone to come as a passenger in your vehicle, don't hesitate on the fact you don't know anyone else at the event. You can enjoy the event with a bunch of social interaction or very little - whatever you're comfortable with.

I've now been to 3 events and am on a first name basis with a handful of folks and weak acquaintances with another dozen or so, but that's it. You won't stick out if you show up knowing nobody else. There are ~100 rigs there. Nobody's keeping track of who knows who.

Yup, I agree with that 100% ^

You'll make friends with your camp neighbors, and folks walking around will stop and ask about your rig and where you're from. Everyone is very social and friendly

As others have said, the crowd that attends this event is cool. We went last year, knowing nobody, and had a great time meeting folks, in particular @TXSunDevil and our camp neighbor @hiteckredneck, @westwardCruiser and their crew who were great neighbors and really cool dudes given that we were there with two toddlers and a dog. Don't let the distance or the fact that you don't know anybody be the reason you don't go. My wife had a great time and she's not a big motor-head or anything - just likes the adventure and opportunity to meet folks. There was a ladies only event last year that she liked. She's really hoping for a lady-drivers trail run this year (@bluecruiser @paflytyer ) as that was something discussed last year.

Hey Kyle! You were great neighbors too. As long as something doesn't go horribly wrong and I get signed up I'll be back with my entire family this year. That will be a completely different experience ;)

And I'd love to send my wife out to do some driving as well, that's a great idea.
