Thread is barely 24 hours old and already three pages long!
For those who haven't been and might be worried about how difficult or scary some of the trails might be, don't be. I've been to three HIH, two of them in a stock LX with AHC...I did A LOT of stuff in my stock LX last year that I thought for sure would have broken something...but nothing broke! I VERY highly suggest getting on the Clear Lake as your first trail...especially with @marcfj60 as the leader!
long day but worth it.........
Counting on you to contraband me some ODELL stuff !!!!!!i don't give a heck what mom says...I'm going!
That was the best!I agree 100%! @willbt was an amazing trail guide! That day really made me upset I was leaving the next morning! I'll be spending more time there this year!

I really want to go! I’m on a flight a Sunday evening but should land in just enough time to register.
I’m gonna admit I’m a bit intimidated. While I’ve been on this forum for about a year, I don’t know anyone going in real life. I feel like I’m showing up to a party where everyone knows everyone. I’m a novice with my 100. I know any cruiser owner I meet in public is super cool but it’s just a big commitment to drive 800 miles and take a week vacation with strangers. Anyone in the same boat, or better yet, was last year and can speak to that?

How fast does this fill up? I, unfortunately, have a flight right about the same time as the sign up on the 10th.

this will be my first year going to HIH but I wont be able to buy my tickets until Tuesday (payday for me is Monday night). I'm on a teacher's budget so I just can't swing it before payday. I keep reading that the event will sell out. Is there a way to get on the waiting list right now so I can even get a ticket? I do have a paypal account... maybe I can put it on my Paypal credit acct?
Just hollaI am planning to go this year. I have not made it for the last four years, but I made it a priority for this year and I plan to bring along my dad. I hope to get a spot and possibly sync up with the #southerncruisers group, as I will also be coming from Alabama.

Part of why I love this event is the general tone of the 100 community. It's very different than other car enthusiast crowds I've been involved with and all for the better. There are no egos, no "bros", nobody talking down to less experienced or knowledgeable attendees and nobody looking to prove anything. Stan and Chris are very welcoming and friendly and I think that trickles down throughout the entire event.
On my first HIH (HIH6) I only knew @Kyle Bell . Otherwise, everyone was just a random stranger with a screen name I might have recognized. I'd say if you can find someone else to convoy with you or someone to come as a passenger in your vehicle, don't hesitate on the fact you don't know anyone else at the event. You can enjoy the event with a bunch of social interaction or very little - whatever you're comfortable with.
I've now been to 3 events and am on a first name basis with a handful of folks and weak acquaintances with another dozen or so, but that's it. You won't stick out if you show up knowing nobody else. There are ~100 rigs there. Nobody's keeping track of who knows who.

Hey Kyle! You were great neighbors too. As long as something doesn't go horribly wrong and I get signed up I'll be back with my entire family this year. That will be a completely different experienceWe went last year, knowing nobody, and had a great time meeting folks, in particular @TXSunDevil and our camp neighbor @hiteckredneck and his crew which were great neighbors and really cool dudes given that we were there with two toddlers and a dog.
One thing to note too, if you don't have a solid CB setup, you should definitely get one. Having CB was very helpful. Not many folks running HAM last year, but I should have my HAM setup for this year in case anyone else does
