United has opened up Nashville to mechanics. I think I’ll bid Nashville so I can come over and bother you on my days off. Haha

Swing over. I think Nashville is about 4 hours away from me, but I have plenty of room for you. So bring your cruiser, and I'll show you how to blow your head gasket catastrophically.United has opened up Nashville to mechanics. Should definitely cerakote the intake purple.Waiting on parts for my head; mainly lifters and a few odds and ends that I probably ordered before, but forgot I had.
Meanwhile the cleaning continues.

Tonight, I will inventory my new TOYOTA OEM parts and get them prepared for build up of the block.
The head will be going to the machinist sometime in the next week or two depending on when my parts get here.
I don’t need to clean this SOB beforehand, do I?

I’m one of those guys who can’t wait that long. I was going to send him pics of my mess later today. So I should wait??? It’s not like I’m trying to date this dude. I don’t like dudes that way.Wait to call for 2 days. Standard etiquette, or you won't get a second date.
1) Scrape all the crap and remaining HG from the top of the block so you have a nice clean smooth surfaceNow for you mechanical gurus...what is the best way for me to tell if I have a bent rod in my old block? How to turn the crank in the current configuration? It’s on an engine stand and I want to verify the bottom end is gtg without having to tear it down (yet).

Are these folks on the forum? While out running errands today I saw two 80’s, both modded, that I have not seen here yet. I talked to both owners of course. The second one was 96 with a 6.2 LS. Im still ramped up over that. The young man and I swapped numbers.
I don’t think so but I’ll change that. Are these folks on the forum?

Thanks again, brother.1) Scrape all the crap and remaining HG from the top of the block so you have a nice clean smooth surface
2) Clean off the top of the pistons and vacuum out all debris around the rings.
3) Maybe reinstall the HB, timing gear, oil pump drive bushing and torque the bolt so you have something to pry against.
4) Set a machined straight edge on the block surface lengthwise with the block and over top of the piston holes.
5) Using flat feeler gauges, measure the clearance between the top of each piston and the bottom of the straight edge at varying locations around the piston (3 points) and average them. (x 6) with each piston at TDC in it's bore.
6) Confirm this clearance to the FSM. ( I think it's about 0.001"....just a guess)
I had a bent rod on a small block Chevy that was about 0.007" clearance on one cylinder for reference due to hydraulic action from a blown HG and trying to start.
The crank was good, but it bent a rod., so new piston, new rod, complete rebalance of assembly.
G, I’m very pleased with the outcome of the cleaning, so I won’t hot-tank anything. 99% of the stubborn carbon deposits have been removed from the bottom and top intake plenums. Hell, from a few feet away, the components look new.Are you going to send out the upper and lower intake for hot tank cleaning as well? It looks very clean to me, but your Marie Kondo style of clean is hard to keep up with…
I'd call up RC. It's going to be a minute before yours are spraying fuel again. I'd be curious about their thoughts on install delays.I found a new dealer to buy parts from. So far I am very impressed with these guys in terms of prices, customer service, and how they package parts.
Here’s a picture of one of my orders. Stout box, clean, and everything inside was perfectly wrapped and organized. Here is the website Authorized Toyota Parts & Accessories Online Retailer | Parts Reliable Toyota MO - https://parts.reliabletoyotamo.com/

Grabbed some sensors and gears for the water pump and oil pump and I don’t even remember.

Got my injectors back already. Here’s the report:

Question: the injector report stated for me to install my injectors right away. Why is that? How long can the injectors wait out of the rail?
