Okay, so I turned the ignition, and I got a mouth, eyes, and face full of Toyota Red Coolant (only the best @Bludozer). It shot out like I did after my first time with my girlfriend, after basic training out of the #6 cylinder.

So, here's my next question: How do I preserve the engine if I plan to work on this thing later? My thoughts:
- Drain coolant
- Drain oil
- Refill oil
- And?

Was this the original head gasket? How many miles on the OD? I’ll be following along closely, as I also have a ‘94 that I will be helping out on a HG job.

Put the plugs back in.
I'd drain the oil. Refill if you want. But as the motor is pretty inoperable I wouldn't.

Jen, the ODO is 209,755. As far as I know, it is the OG HG. When I bought this beast, she was not maintained well and only had band-aid fixes her whole life. I would bet my retirement that she is on her OG HG. Progress may be a bit slow as I have another 97 that I want to fine-tune before selling; it's an easier problem to solve first.
Interesting. Thanks for reporting, and really sorry about your Halloween horror.
Ha! :flipoff2: Thank you for your sympathies. It was karma. As I mentioned, I was on the freeway, and someone in front of me was going 5mph below the posted speed limit, so I flashed them, passed them, and about 6.9 seconds later, my HG sh*t itself.

Time to get busy. HG job is pretty simple and straight forward on the 1FZ-FE.

Don't fret it. Just get it done.
Yes, daddy, thank you :flipoff2:. Why don't you come over and show me how it's done? Lord knows I already bought all the parts for this job for my 40th.

I'm sorry for your loss.

It won't crank over because the cylinder is hydrolocked and filled with coolant.

You need to pull ALL your spark plugs, then turn it over and see which cylinder is full of coolant.

The milkiness of the oil, the fact that it won't turn over, and the white smoke out the exhaust, all point to HG.

Pull the plugs and see if coolant blows out of a hole. Then do a compression test on that cylinder to determine issue.
What he said … have you done a 1fz hg yet? If not, you are bound for a life enriching experience.

Damn sorry for the bad news P! Will be following your HG replacement as my '94 has exactly 15 less miles at 209,740 currently. No bad HG signs so far.

Negative. The farthest I've gone is valve cover gasket o-ring replacement. How about you Steve, ready to come down to NE TN?

Thanks, J. I had no warning signs at all. I don't know what others are seeing but my cruiser has been running so nice and tight. Until I flashed that idiot in the fast lane going super slow. I'll keep you guys informed!

I’m impressed you can pass people.

How far are you from Otramm’s shop? You could spend the money and have him do your HG and skip the obligations you have on ‘mud to document your wrenching. We will obviously heckle you mercilessly.

This would be my move. Endless heckling is a worthy trade-off IMO.

I mean you already know how to move cruisers a reeeeelllllly long way. There’s not even an ocean between you and Ryan’s shop.

Greg, thanks for the suggestion. Onur is right though, I need to get balls deep in my girl and learn her. I haven’t done an HG job before. May as well try it. What’s the worst that can happen? It’s just money and time.

Also, I am contemplating pulling the engine. I have no ****ing clue what I’m doing. Yolo.

In other news, check out what came in the mail yesterday.

Too bad my HG is blown. I figure @Bludozer would appreciate these premium wiper blades as much as he appreciates the T-Red I put into my cruisers.

Im making a parts list and will post it soon. Going to drain and fill the engine oil. Drain the coolant and preserve the engine until I get a chance to work on it.

You guys can continue to heckle away. I deserve it. :flipoff2:
