The instructions on Mitch's website currently say that the Muscle Car Module puts out 2 pulses/rev for the tachometer input. Has he changed his design in the last year?

He has two designs. Gen IV and Gen V.

I have the Gen V version. I can confirm that what I have outputs 4 pulses/rev.

I don't know about the Gen IV version.

I agree with you. This isn’t my daily driver but I want to keep it as stock as possible. I already bought an auto meter oil pressure gauge. I may just drill a 52mm hole into the stock center console below the ashtray and fit it there and be done with it.
I installed a water temperature gauge in the console area you described and had to use a 1 1/2 “ Equus unit. I still have the 2” Autometer gauge that was too big.

I don’t think there is enough room for a 2” gauge in that area. Also, there is a bracket behind there that limits the length of the gauge you can use . I machined a spacer so that the gauge sticks out about about a quarter inch or so.

I got a little more room behind the console on my other swap by placing the gauge more toward the center.

I hooked up two sensors to the gage. One in the engine block for water temperature , and one in the transmission pan. Wired a switch to flip from water to trans fluid temp. Hope this helps some 🙃

One gauge to do it all
I have never heard of such sorcery lol good s*** 👏

Besides Torque Pro, which has all the gauges, I have one actual physical gauge: an AFR gauge.

I had a transmission temp gauge in the spot originally, which was no longer needed since Torque Pro has Transmission Temp.

The AFR gauge streams realtime Lambda on the canbus, which is then logged with HP Tuners MVPI3.

After I ran the pressure hose trans > radiator > cooler 1 (left) > derale cooler (right). Trans gauge reads 190, was 220 before. I used a thermal gun to read tempt on the pan. Not accurate, different tempt in diff areas. I’ll get a obd gauge later to read it and let you guys know.

And this is just sitting in the driveway? Or after beers and burnouts..?

Current Gauge Setup on Torque Pro on my phone.

I have no idea how this motor runs, so the more info, the better.

I am watching the oil temp to justify if I need an external cooler. Plus, would love to have more capacity.

Transmission appears to run cold due not having the GM temp valve, which many people delete. As seen in the Air Temp Gauge, it was cold out.

A/C Pressure because I recently added the A/C Aux fan. Curious how high the pressure goes now, but that has to wait for Summer temps.

Gear Position because how else do you know if you have 6 actual useable gears...😁

I have other screens for fuel trims for tuning, emissions and DTCs.

@NeverFinis do you have the trans lines looped through the radiator?

I do.

Transmission to Radiator then Air Cooler, back to the transmission.

Edited to add: This screen capture was from a short 20 minute drive, and apparently GM doesn't install a fluid thermostat on 2500/3500 6L90e.

Any real downside to bypassing the radiator? Other than in cold weather?
Oil has a temperature range where it provides the best protection. I probably dont reach that range because it runs so cool. That said I've never overheated the fluid while towing either. We ahall see what consequences i get.

I skip the radiator and go to the cooler only.
Me too. When it gets real cold I’ll duct tape some cardboard or foil over the cooler. Looks real high tech!

^^ You guys are gangters. I live in the magical pacific northwest and it freezes in the winter months..
So maybe it's better to run the trans fluid through the radiator to warm up the fluid faster.
I installed two oil coolers as well. According to Grok... Gm trans run pretty hot. Wow. Mine was at 230. runs 195-200 after
two oil coolers installed.

In the research I did, I couldn't find any catastrophic damage as a result of having too cool of fluid. Found lots of reports of catastrophic failure from fluid being too hot. In the Colorado winters I didn't notice a difference. On the engine side i noticed that the cool intake air made the LS motor more responsive and lively feeling.

Sorry off topic.. I did my research but didn’t see anything on wiring to the LC check engine light.. did you gentlemen run the gm brown (ground) wire to the pin 6, Yellow/Red wire? Now I use an aftermarket light bulb. Prefer on the gauge cluster. Appreciate it.

I mean, it is on topic.

I never wired anything straight to the cluster. That is a hard no go for me.

It is also available at the Toyota ECM. On my 1996 LX450: E 7 connector, pin 4, Y-R.

GM: E78 ECM, circuit 419 Brown/White.

YMMV due to differences in Toyota models and GM ECMs.

I do like the new location for these gauges better than in front of the gauge cluster. Less distraction. Going to drill a hole on the plastic piece to hide the wires.
