I bought this 82’ FJ 45 off a guy on marketplace. Long story short, I’m trying to get it up and running. The 2F that was in it was shot so I’m swapping in a 2F from an FJ60 than i sourced via mud.

Having never dealt with AC, I’m in need of some help!

I sourced a new 5 speed and transfer case from George in Stockton. The motor is mounted and I’m trying to get it all buttoned up.

Can any of you provide some insight as to the interference I’m getting with the AC belt to the lower radiator hose? It looks as if the pulley should push the belt above the lower hose but it’s out of upward travel.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Not overly versed in the new and modern fj60’s lol

But I believe the lower radiator hose setup was different from regular and AC setups where the lower hose sat lower on 60’s with ac

Try asking in the 60 section about the lower hose setup with ac Try asking… they may have quicker answers for you

Congrats for your purchase mate (nice colour too)!
Interesting adaption of the 70-Series bed. Some more pics (from several angles) of the bed adaption please!

40 series a/c rads are wider, along with the rad mount to account for this issue than non a/c rads in 40 series
trying to find an a/c rad and mount can be futile
best bet may be to shift the rad to the pass side some.

there was a thread on this last summer here in 40 tech
this might be the thread I was thinking about:

You need both the lower radiator hoses and pipe from a +80 Cruiser (same as a 60). All
available new, I should have them in stock

If you tried to shift the radiator, the shroud would follow. And then the shroud wouldn’t line up with the fan.

The 40 and 60 coolant pipe with AC are different. The mounting tab is in a different location and shorter on a 40 with factory air, however a 60 coolant pipe can work on a 40. I used one on my 40.

Since the rad u-channel is so hard to find, the OP could cut his u-channel in half and widen it then make the radiator doubler plates to re center the rad while shifting it over for the belt to clear. This would also require widening the fan shroud.

Unfortunately not an easy button to fix this

Looking at your pic again...

you could try to rotate the AC compressor towards the block, use a slightly shorter belt and lengthen the coolant hard pipe to clear the AC belt.

That would be easier than my previous post.

I was wondering if lengthening the heater T pipe would be sufficient. But if @cruisermatt has a plug and play answer, why reinvent the wheel?🤷🏻‍♂️

Neat, I guess I never actually checked the part number on the 40 part.
I’ve always used the 60 part, several times now

OP has a 60 engine with 60 ac coolant pipe. Replacing with same part will not fix the clearance issue. The coolant pipe looks angled toward the 40 radiator due to the short hose. Perhaps using a longer lower hose and adjusting the coolant pipe outward might open up some room.
