Looks like a great trip! Enjoy! Glad to see the truck is running so well.

Are you guys wheeling with the Rising Sun folks or wheeling on your own? How's it feel off road with the rack and tent?

on our own, just exploring easy trails before the main event

You bet Josh!

Yup, no time to fix it now. I'll get it working when I get home. I've got a bunch of video and stills to go through. I'll post more when I get back.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Kevin and his son Jackson at Cruise Moab (along with the rest of the Cannuck Convoy). He is as nice and as friendly as he comes across in his threads and on the phone.

I was also VERY fortunate to have been lucky enough to receive one of Kevin's amazing roof racks (I promise I'll destroy those pictures of you in Vegas now Kevin), which he graciously brought down for me from Calgary. This is an amazing piece of workmanship and I just cannot believe how light it is. Also, at 80 MPH it does not whistle AT ALL. This is by far the nicest rack I've seen and I am supremely impressed and pleased with it.

I was also lucky enough to see Kevin's work on the BJ42 first hand and have to say that it is even nicer than it looks in his photos. Kevin is a true artist when it comes to fabrication, repair and improvement. Here is the rack on 3D J**p Trail with my wife and son.

Trying to post a pic again as my phone would not let me do it.

New rack.webp

Thanks Josh, it was great to meet you and your family as well.

We're still on the road, just waiting at the border now. Yellowstone was quite cool to see with Jackson. I hadn't been there since '88.

Just a note for the few who might ask about me making a rack for them.... This one I made for Josh was in trade for some parts and things that I needed and I currently have no plans to make and sell racks for profit (or free for that matter).

Looking forward to getting home and have already got plans to hit Moab again next year.

Was there much snow in Yellowstone? I am really looking forward to taking Liam up there one day.

Hope you get through the border crossing quickly and I look forward to seeing some more photos. Sorry that photo of you is sideways; it is right-side-up in my computer, so not sure why it went sideways on the thread.

Cheers,

Josh

On a side note, one of the guys in my office (who is a CJ7 man, sadly, and just got back from their cute little Moab Easter Safari but otherwise has exemplary judgement) saw me pull up with your rack on the roof and came out to have a look. He pronounced it the nicest rack he'd seen 'despite it being on a Cruiser'.... high praise indeed.

Soooooooooo bummed I missed out on it guys.

Looks like a good time guys!

And that rack looks absolutely killer on Lexie!

Dan

I can't wait for you to see it Dan. It is really sweet. I'm actually reluctant to take the roof off because it looks so good.

Sad that your Mom and Dad could not make it either. We stopped in Pagosa on the way back and thought of you all.

Lexie is looking great Josh ! How much weight can one safely add to a 40 ser roof ? I would love to be able fit our Hannibal Impi tent to Olive, when required for those overlanding trips where :princess: is with me.The problem is that the tent weighs 65kg and so I have been thinking of fabricating a removable exoskeleton/roll cage type rack ? But now Kevin's rack has me :hhmm:

thats too bad, i know a couple guys that would like a rack (profit, not for free)
