I run 37s (13.5) Toyos with Frankies 3.5" and 30mm spacer comfortably......and previously fit 38.7 michelin xmls with same setup. (rear fenders trimmed up to wheelwell lip and fronts to match. plenty of clearance and basically stock plushness on road/ highspeed fireroad chop)

Id say if you are under 5800lbs.........and you want a more plush ride- this may be a solution to rattly teeth and dental work :)

ive run these springs between 5000 and 5700lbs and perform great in both and ideal in the upper half of that weight range imho
Im running the medium springs front and rear, with bumper and winch up front, tire carrier and jerrycans in back. The ride is firm, but plush if that makes sense. The ride quality is perfect, but the shocks seem as if the valving is too firm. Hence why I liked the rancho 9 thousands, adjustability was great, and easy to change when going on different terrain. Anyone run rancho 9 thousands on an 80???

I ran Rancho 9000s on my '93 80 for a while. They were actually on it when I bought it back in 2000. I really liked them but when they wore out and I switched from the OME mediums to the OME J's I replaced them with the OME L's. That's what I've got currently and I'm wanting to replace them. Are the 9000s still available for an 80? My only issue with the 9000s is that the rear shocks are pretty vulnerable to getting blasted by road gravel and the adjustment knobs can get destroyed.

The MRR Dobi's come in a 2.5 as well, and as the range expands there will be custom options available, but while they import the parts to Aus, and build them by hand here the lead times can be a bit long on some part No's.

If you can revalve them over there, you will find they could be alright in the price bracket, as the market in that area is flooded with well known brands that are cashing in on the sticker, but arent really a big improvement.

Price on a Dobi 2.5?? Very interested

They would be sub $1k U.S with the exchange rate into the USA.

Running them now on my 96 and happy with them. OME 850\863 OME CC busings ironman front with winch, IPOR rear with dual swingouts, IPOR skid, OPOR sliders and fully loaded drawer system on now 315's.
Started with stock just over 4 years ago and over these last 4 years I did shocks first, then added front bumper and winch, then did springs, then rear bumper and skid, then sliders and finally drawers and a few weeks ago the big tires. I haven't wheeled it hard but drive it daily and have put on about 25K on the shocks progressively loading it down and I think I'll be due come summer for replacing them.

I run them on 5 and they're not harsh at all, the specs are pretty dam close to the OME 2.5" KIT, and they're affordable.

For the cost of about $300 I might just do them again. There is a rebate running now for the 9Ks which is tempting to just buy now have them on hand when one failsl.

No way I'm dropping $2k on Icon 2.0's but if I could find a reservoir set that lasted as long these rancho's have for sub $1000 I might be tempted to start a budget for them.

Had the rancho 9000xl shocks on mine. Overal they were good but not great, biggest problem is not enough rebound damping especially if you go bigger/heavier tires. The fox IFP is night and day better at the same price. The ranchos are a bit long in the tooth.

Thanks for the input, looks like a set for 1-2.5" lifts are just over $500, not bad at all. I might just try a set come spring unless Frank brings in some with remote res's for around $800.

Fix 2.0 with resi is about 230 each......wish I knew that before I bought mine.

If you guys can hold out til after Christmas i should have some more information and pricing. Do I hear a group buy. Lol

Look into the KING non res shocks as well...they are not much more than the FOXs with way better customer service. Definitely decide on what you want to do with the truck then outfit accordingly. Med OME springs calls for KING's normal build and anything else might call for custom valving....especially for the OME competition springs.

Iv ran heaps of different shocks in my 4wds over the years old man emu, dobinsons Efs extremes and they are all rubbish compared the the 2.5 smooth body remote res shocks that are on offer now days. When there set up right the ride and hadeling is in a totally different league. Until you go for a ride in a 80'series with them it's hard to justify the price but there worth every cent. They do create other issues if you drive it hard like flogging all the control arm bushes out and spinning castor correction bushes. Using genuine bushes has fixed all that and I'm now very happy.

After valving it 2 times I am very happy with the results. For me, I can't seem to get anything right the first time with the Land Cruiser...everything is a trial and error. I guess MUD is like the BIBLE, everything is up to interpretation...not to take in the literal sense, except the repair stuff....Do your research and ask a lot of questions before you start spending money. If anyone around you has done something you want to do, go and take a ride or look at their truck before you start dropping money into these Bentleys!!

Just for clarification here, the 2.0s are like $670 the set of 4.

2.5 CDC remote res are the 2k [aprox] units.

Twin tube shocks already are a disadvantage purely because they cant run the gas pressure that stops the oil from cavitating through the valve stack when you want them to work, As for foam cell shocks, well.... putting a strip of yoga mat in the shock to try and stop the oil from foaming isnt really a big step forward in shock technology these days, but it makes them cheap to build!

I can wait Frank! Any guess on what you'll have with a guess on price in a $100 range?

This is the link I was going by, am I missing something because there isn't a 2.5 and the stage 1 Icons don't differ much from others in their class, the 2.0 are north of $2k

I think you are confusing stage 2 with 2.5" shocks. The "stage one" kit are 2.0 and the "stage 2" are 2.5.

Ah I see what you're saying now, shock size vs stage. I was lamenting the fact you cant get a remote reservoir shock set for under a grand, which hopefully Frank will resolve for use for a new years present!

smoothies will easily cope with a lighter truck thats not days across the desert, and save you $$$ unless your just after "the look".

In my experience with the different brands of 2.0, even custom building 2.0s from others, is why we stopped doing the others, when these became available.

Dont get hung up on branding, because if your spending the money, get something that works best for your money, rather than is best marketed.
