Hey Joey. Group Buy closed? the "Quickdraw" coupon code won't work anymore on the site. Sorry, I dragged my feet on this one, (haven't even discussed with the wife yet as I've gotten a few toys lately for the cruiser), but wanted to be a man of my word as promised. Did my procrastinating cost me the discount (totally understand if so)?
I am turning it back on for a few more hours. I've been updating Instagram with my camping photos and I still have a few hours before my meeting at the metal shop to go over all of my projects.

Ok folks. GroupBuy is over. Order placed with the metal shop. Clock is ticking. Thanks to all that ordered. Even though I didn't have enough orders to at least hit the min order, it was relatively close enough that I can still have enough inventory for the next year or two for you fence sitters
Yeah, no reason not to since I have the casting and the SolidWorks file ready to go. Since only about 5 or less would actually purchase it the price to produce it will likely prevent people from pulling the trigger. Getting 5 made of some something vs getting 50 made of something is an amazing example of economics of scale. I worry the price will scare people away from the LX version. But we shall see. Let me get this one completed and then use any issues to make sure the LX, the 60 and 62 versions to be betterer
I got in SOOOO much trouble for pulling the trigger on this without consulting the banker (wife)....but then I explained, "honey, we talked about this remember? A secret, hidden locked console where we can store your rings and stuff when we go to the pool, lake, etc.?"
Just a quick note, the metal shop didn't have the die I hoped they had for the locks to make them flush. Now I get the joy of purchasing a custom die...awesome
The gift that keeps on giving...
The problem with the guys above is that they TOLD their wives they spent $100. Mine's a business expense, as my truck is my work truck. It's between me and my balance sheet...

I learned long ago that there is a difference between monthly take home and monthly take home that the wife is aware of....everyone needs a cruiser slush fund.
All true, but my wife actually, literally, saved my life years ago. She's the only reason my cruiser addiction even exists today. And she always comes around when it comes to the 80 anyway!
So because I can't seem to leave well enough alone...
I was playing around with my mock-up and I got to thinking. Since the lid will be opening up and towards the back of the console (rear of the truck) I got to thinking about lifting the lid. No way in hell do I want to add a finger hole. I considered just using the key as the handle itself but then started wondering about the lid falling closed, especially if its on a decline. Not the end of the world and definitely useable. But I wanted something little more so I ordered up set up spring loaded hinges that are spring open. This way the lid stays open unless you want it pushed closed. I could also get spring closed that basically always tries to shut closed but I don't see that as being as useful. Since the hinges get spot welded AFTER the box and lid production I have some time to decide. On top of that all of you who got in on the GroupBuy get to see no price increase even with the new hinges...assuming I decide to go that way. Thoughts?
