??? what happened?

I thought he was offering more than he thought he was paying. I got two PM threads mixed up. My life is too busy to be f'ing around selling used cars, I suppose.

I should put it on ebay for $1, no reserve...

dibs!!! lmao

No need to heckle. I claimed the cruiser in my previous post (in excitement), and I came back to announce that our deal fell apart since @Adamcbad seemed interested as well. GLWS Ed.

I like the $1 ebay no reserve idea. It will let the market drive the price and it sounds like you may have a few parties ( me included) that are interested close to the same price...let it ride and see what happens.

The ebay timed auction is B. S. Last time I put it up for $10k there were no bids with less than an hour left.

I honestly don't need to sell it, and I'm not going to give it away. Me and my GF are almost not talking at the moment because I didn't sell it to reddog for his offer. She has trouble understanding that it is not the money. They're not making any more stock, original-paint '78 fj40s.

F' all y'all. I'm keeping it. I'm going to wax it and fix the EGR over the weekend. :flipoff2:

reddog wanted the Olive doors on it. Good idea.

lol..."original paint" i see more surface rust than paint on it so im not sure how that is even a selling point. And it's obviously about the money or it would have gone to reddog.
1. im sure he offered and paid you well more than it's worth.
2. im "guessing" the difference between what you thought you were getting and what was given is very marginal.
3. YOU were the one who screwed up.
4. i doubt you'll ever get close to what he paid you.
5. in my opinion, reddog dodged a bullet...

Ed if you really are going to keep it and detail it, here is an excellent article I found on restoring oxidized single stage paint. And research scrubbing the surface rust off that hood with CLR and scotchbrite pads, then doing a very light coat of BLO (wipe on, wipe off immediately so it doesn't dry sticky).

The Secret to Removing Oxidation and Restoring a Show Car Finish to Antique Single Stage Paints

The cruiser market is so flooded and so over priced, everyone is hoping to sell for these high prices, good thing these owners don’t need to sell, because the craigslist cruisers are for sale for months even years without lowering prices??? I have sold tons of cruisers over the years, if they don’t sell, I lower the price, it’s pretty simple. Once the price is down to a real world value they sell. Eddy, you obviously don’t really want to sell your rig. To me, if you spend a day buffing and fix the egr it would probably bring 12 to 14 k. Rant over, just so tired of hearing ( but these sell for 70k restored!) you are better off keeping and enjoying!

Wow, @reddog90, thanks for the link. I'm gonna try the #7 on Zeke - original paint needs some TLC!

amen!!!!

id love to see it now!

Let me work on it some more. It will be a big difference from the current pics.

not a fan of fords myself... but its your rig.

Me either. The plan would be to trade up again very soon, maybe change the styling to make it more palatable a-la Chip Foose. :)

Maybe I could find a Ford guy who has a nice GTO, Chevelle or Camaro to trade?

Eddie, there's a reason that guy wants to trade his truck. Caveat emptor.
