Saw Jack's @JackA post earlier, so where's that motor going?

Not sure. I have a bunch of F parts here. I need to compression check it and see if it’s worthy of messing with. It won’t get trashed I assure you.

Worked in some 71Forty work today. Dropped the flywheel off to get polished up.

Now it’s on the rack again for a good cleaning. This is a swell collection of dirt dauber nests

Yep. I’m usually offended by paint jobs that are not series specific but this green is pretty hot.

I think it’s FJ Cruiser green.

I Gotta' tell ya Hoss, it has an appeal. And, you're gon'na do what you do best...Kick it out of the park. I'm hangin' on to see where this goes...

OBTW, Thanks for the tip...

And, Mud-dobbers gonna do what Mud-dobbers gonna do. ^^^

Stopping point. I dug out about 2/3 of the mud.

I like to do as much as I can dry like this. Once it gets wet it’s like concrete again.

I’ll blast it out with air after I get as much as I can scraped out the holes then I’ll do a bit of water to finish it off.

Here are a few “before” of the underside

I particularly like how you slipped a pic of that black t-shirt hanging in the background 🤣

OK. That’s done. Air. Scraper. Soap. Water. Zepp Orange.

Now it’s drying out good. The discoloration is not dirt. It’s all been scrubbed out.

Next steps.

Rust converter. Paint. Fluid film inside the frame. I’ll do the entire underside once I finish working on it and send it home.

The one great thing about this truck is that it’s got a great paint job. It’s not an OEM 40 color but I like it. I think maybe its FJ Cruiser green.

Dunno really. That said, it’s a nice paint job with what seems like little Bondo.

The plan is basically what I do….make it drive straight. Stop straight. Ride good. Look good.

Step one.

Dobinsons IMS

Step 2

Yokohamas on City Racer 16s

Step 3

Take the turd Weber equipped F/3 speed out and replace it with a 2F/Split Case/Sniper EFI

You know, “The Formula”

Yesterday I unboxed all these goodies and loaded them up in the Goat

I dropped the tires and wheels at my local fella that mounts and balances with a bubble balancer and uses used weights. He’s always on the money. Knows how to line the green dots with the valve stem and all

Next I ran down to Powder Keg and grabbed the Dobinsons IMS that @Ozark cruiser sent to me

When I got home I tore out the interior to get the driveline ready to pull from the top and ran into my first problem. The painter who is a good painter obviously does not work on Land Cruisers because he covered all the tranny hump bolts with bed liner. LOTS of bedliner.

I had to use a wire wheel to grind the heads clean in order to get the 10mm on them and a razor to cut out the hump View attachment 2959131

No surprise, this is just a paint job over a dirty ass truck. I’m not sure how people do this, but they do.

Either way. It has begun. Stay tuned…..
dude i want to be you when i grow up..no s***.

Removed this cool old trailer brake controller.

Drained out the tank. It has a little rust but I think it’s OK. I’ll check it more when I install the fuel pump

You just keep on livin the dream! Someone is going to get a killer ride when this one leaves the shop. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride again.

Roger is a saint for bringing these drain hoses back to life. If you lube those silicone drain hoses up with dish soap or your choice of water based lubricant you can actually install the correct firewall grommet. It's physically impossible without lube. The good thing about having the water based lubricant on hand is you can use it before placing orders at SOR so it doesn't hurt so bad.

Now I have to go move where my hose clamp lives as it looks like I reinstalled it on the wrong bolt.

Lots of butchery on the ends but I’ve seen worse. I have all the wires clean enough to ID the colors. New Toyota loom tape shipped today.

I will greatly simplify the wiring as I go by adding a 60 series alternator on the passenger side. None of the lights were working properly.

Installed a new fuse block from City Racer. Not a single fuse in the old box was the proper amperage. Baselining the fuse box with a new one is always on my list.
