Thank you. Do those 81110-60P70 housings say 6R11 on the face? If so, it seems like those are made for RHD same as the others? Now I'm super confused.

The ones in 81110-60P70 say “6R11” indeed.

The originals off my HZJ77 say “6L13”.

The new Koitos from Japan that I removed the 24v bulbs from say “6L15”.

I don’t know how to decipher those codes. Anyone?

The E6 euro marking appears to point towards Belgium which is a LHD country. That jeep website is confusing and seems to be marking them up high for sale too.

Back in the day with 7" LED headlights became a thing for Jeeps and motorcycles, JW Speaker and Trucklite were the big names. That's what you bought unless you wanted cheap Chinese crap off eBay or Alibaba.

There are a lot more options now and I'm curious how many folks are running LED headlights in the rigs. Would love to get pics and feedback and opinions on the various lights being run. I'm getting ready to purchase by end of year and wanted to see what I was possibly missing. I'd never put LED's in my 40-series... the Koito H4's are plenty of upgrade for me there and I want to keep the old-school look. But on my Troopy I feel like the LED won't be so out of place.

Here are the manufacturers, of good repute, that I'm currently aware of.
JW Speaker
TruckLite
KC HiLite
Holley (these seem a very cool option for 40-series folks as they preserve the vintage look)
CityRacer (I love my other stuff from him, but his price point concerns me that they aren't TruckLite quality)
Hella (seem to have an LED 7" headlight in non-NA markets)
VisionX (seems to be what Jonathan Ward is using these days)
Putco (also seems to be used by Ward at times, not a good aesthetic in my opinion)

Any others I'm obviously missing?
Any advice/input from the crowd?

Im new to the 24v system i just got my 1996 HZJ73 RHD from Japan....do these come with wiring harness/relay thats 24v? i have something similiar to the trucklite pluged them in to the oem connection and nothing....im assuming they need a relay

Yes, you need relays for LED's. Toyota uses grounding circuits (i.e. the devices always have power, and the switch gives them ground). The relays reverse this for the LED's.

Buy these and make sure to sand down the grounding points really well.

My personal favorites are the Holly Retrobrights. They look retro, and you can choose from 2 colors. However, they burn out after 18V and do not work on 24V systems.

I ordered them today.....so i should be able to plug the lights i currently have into these and they should work?

Yes. Your H4 bulb LED's would tie into those relays. You will need to tie the cables to grounds, though. My truck had two threaded ground points right nearby. I sanded them down and ran a tap through the threads.

I ended up installing the LHD headlight kit (81110-60P70) that @FJ73Texas recommended. Great price. $56 for two glass headlights. The wiring is not necessary, but you could probably use the relays to install LED's if you wanted to.

Swapped out the 12V bulbs with some 24V Hella P43T heavy duty bulbs. Color temperature is warm white 3200k, which is close to stock color. For comparison sake, white LED's are typically 6000k.

The 3200k headlight color did not match with the 1800k incandescent side markers, so I swapped the 24V 194 side marker bulbs over to LED. 3000k temperature (from Super Bright LED's part number 194-WWHP5). That got them matching nicely.

I’m trying to change my 60’s halogens and have no luck when I plug the light into the socket or into the EMC plug they came with. Will these converters resolve my issues and give me light?

You need a grounding converter for any Toyota LED. LED current only flows one direction with a diode to stop the other direction.

These converters are only $19 to try.

Pro Comp makes a 7" round led with an h4 plug. You can get them from cruiser brothers.

I like the Holleys although the Pro Comps are less expensive.

I would not put an LED bulb in a halogen housing.

Caveat: I personally run halogens with an upgraded harness and don't care for LEDs.

I’ve been obsessed with lights for a long time......when I sold accessories at a dealership in the late 90s, we sold lights for Hummer H1s.....we were outfitting these crazy scavenged HID setups in those trucks way back then. Bulbs were like $300 each as I recall. There were zero options....unlike now.

I’ve used a lot of lights over the years.....lately we’ve been stuck on the Holley Retrobrights. They’re really nice lights. They look like a traditional light and put out some really good light. I’ve run them 6 months on my 60 and I love them. I use to use the gen 1 Truck Lites.....they looked semi normal. Good lights. Military spec. One of the trucks runs the Gen 2 variant and those are nice as well. But for me, the Holleys do everything I need them too. Most, importantly, they don’t look stupid

I did the
STEDI 7 INCH CARBON BLACK LED HEADLIGHT PAIR (FOR LANDCRUISER) they work native 24V

I'm really happy with them, great light and yes they look a little robot but not nearly as bad as some. it's not a bad place and the light output is wayyy better than the old halogens. You don't have to hook up the little 1/2 halo feature if you don't want. You will need to setup to fix the negative switching. But that is true for most 7" rounds.

I will be running the Koito kit that VintagTeq sells, as soon as it gets here. His demonstration of it makes it seem like a perfect solution - super bright, easy install, tough glass lights, waterproof, etc. And they look stock which matters to me.

The Koito kit is a great deal and way better than the sealed beams, however it still cannot compare with LED lights.
However, if you are planning on getting LED’s I would still get the Koito kit because it comes with a relay and cables that increase the amps delivered to your bulbs, which is a good thing no matter what bulbs you end up running.

I like his kit and it is a consideration! I wish he had a less white light option like the Holley/morimoto design.

I hear Led bulbs don’t always perform well with halogen glass?
