We found some rubber profile that kind of fits between the roof and the windscreen frame. The climate inside is much better now. Nobody knows what should be there?

We got the steering box out to adjust the steering wheel play. We had to remove all the shims and the play is now a little bit less then 1 inch. Also put a new seal on the pitman arm shaft.

Nice work on the seat frame.

I believe this aftermarket rubber strip is what I used on my 45 LBP. Part description shows it should work for a 40 series as well.

The first gear of the 62 fj40 is quite noisy (sounds like a bad bearing) and the seal of the ingoing axle is leaking. We want to take it apart. Don't know if we will do it soon or later, but we want to be prepared. It is a "three on the tree" gearbox.

Questions:
1. We have a parts manual from 65. Is this the same gearbox?
2. Any specific things to look for? modifications?
3. Are parts still available? did they use standard bearings and seals?

Because we all love photo's, here are some how it looks right now. Only did some small fixes: put a working doorlock in it because we had no key. (Can those keys be ordered? there is a number on the lock).

Also removed the thick steel plate behind the bumper which was welded in for mounting a snow plow.

Have to go look for some tyres so we can refit the Original wheels. What do you think of these: http://www.fedimatyres.com/en/4x4/4x4/maxima

a decent locksmith can rekey everything. the p.o. of annie didn't have any keys, on my advice, she took the ignition to a locksmith and had them rekey it, then i took the fuel cap and had the locksmith key it to match the ignition

If you could get them I'd consider these, much closer to Dunlop RK3 and if the majority of your ride is on the street might be more pleasant.

Fedima has some nice patterns that would be a huge hit over here at remold pricing. :)
