Didn't see that yet. Thought they were only larger sizes. I like the side wall of the RK3, and the maxima has about the same side wall.

Just found your thread, very nice! In the process of rebuilding my stock manual steering box, or as some call it, polishing a turd. Do you have a part number for the seal you used?

Hoi Tachtig , alles goed? These tires look nice and are kind of original, I have similar right now on my FJ45 , but with wet pavement it is close impossible to keep the truck on the road. Very dangerous. Just saying , I know it rains a lot in Holland :bang:
Veel plezier.

Yeah, don't compromise on safety just because a tire looks cool or period correct.

Really? Do you think just a good radial tire will make this 62 a good DD for modern roads? I gave up driving a 40 on Phoenix streets thirty years ago. If I could get RK3s I would run them in a heart beat. For city driving I am a lot more worried about a vehicle that has crumble zones and air bags. I can control how I drive and adjust to my tires just like when I tow. How other drivers drive is another story. A short wheel base vehicle with four leaf springs is not the best vehicle to react to other drivers, radial tires or not. Funny how any of these bias tire, single circuit brake system that only had drum brakes even survived more than the first year. currently have ten cruiser that came equiped that way.:meh:

Well, for various reasons we'll drive it in the rain as little as possible. But thanks for the tip.

Would also love the RK3. Johnny, I think you mean the are produced in Malaysia? Don't know about south africa, and can't reach some parts of their website so can't check. I think the missing DOT mark won't be a problem.

Another thing to think about is which tire gets better :steer: performance with the lack of powersteering.

You are probably correct :D ... I do not recall where they are made ... I remember seeing them on a south africa site... probably not produced there....

we had them on a thread here someplace.... probably the rk3 thread

Hi Bret,

Have been looking, but I did't write down the sizes, didn't find the old seal on the workbench and were not able to find the data of the new seal.

BUT I found a partnr in a old parts manual: 90310-32010, I think this is correct. I used google with this number and found size 32x44x9 mm (and internet is always right ). Maybe the dealer can help you with this number or you can find a seal with this size.

HTH

Could not find a way to get those RK3s out of Malaysia to here. We tried many different routes, we even tried going through Australia...nothing.

Had started a group buy thread, but not enough interest to even think of getting them made by a local tire place like Coker...

There would need to be someone in Malaysia to ship them out somehow.

Some progress. Replaced rear sill (link to rear sill thread), fixed the front fenders. Painted it with a matching color. Fixed the side steps but didn't put them back yet.

Also got some new front turn signals and matched the color. And painted the bumperettes body color.
