I am looking to upgrade the 3-speed Tranny in my 1972 FJ40 with a 5-speed set up. Still have the stock F motor. Anyone have a H55F or NV4500 or any other options that will work well? Appreciate any help/advice you could offer. I am located in NY.

best to buy new, either local dealer if they give a discount or thru @beno

you'll need a lot more than just the transmission, transfer case, shifter, 5th gear oiler, bellhousing, driveshaft mods, remove the tube,
you'll end up losing the ebrake unless you get one of @orangefj45 splitcase ebrake setups
there's lots of things needed for this swap into an early 40

That looks like it could get very expensive.......

So true...

Any idea what total cost could look like? $5K?

Beno, you have everything I need for this Tranny swap?

I only interact with new parts. Most of the parts you need will need to be procured used. @3_puppies is a good source for some used parts.

I can provide you with the new OEM parts you might need. Please contact me via email or phone.

@Roxx has an h55 he might part with!

Damn, anyone else have one?
