Noticed Motor cars of Jackson has a TLC restored 40 for sale. Actually one of the better priced TLC restorations I’ve seen @ $75k.

I think that’s a typo. Should be “sent to 49T Land Cruisers...”

Looks like it has sold. I wonder where it’s going to live now?

Random Q, want to get a full tag on the 40 (antique tags are limited use in TN) and to do so I have to run it thru emissions. Emissions here is pretty simple, and the visual is just to check for a CAT (no underhood) but the 40 doesn't have one currently. Does anyone know if a 78 2f would have had a CAT? If not and I can show them, then I want to try and go that route, otherwise I'll have to have one added.

Best I can tell it looks like 79 is when they added the CAT, but would like to confirm.

Thanks,

Well I need to have the whole thing redone and could be a possibility later, but for now just would like to get it passed and if there wasn't one from the factory it should make getting it thru for now much easier. Plus, no top and no doors pretty well takes care of the smell.

@jynx when I got my 60 registered in Williamson Co a couple years ago I went and got an emissions test and passed. If I remember correctly, when I took it to the County Clerk office to get tags, they said antique tags don’t require an emissions test...

I’ve only gotten hassled once for having antique tags, btw. Although I’m sure it’s because Memphis cops have bigger fish to fry.

Per the parts list diagram for FJ40 exhausts on 7501 - 7901 trucks, there was not a cat in the system.

@Bama4door I have antique tags on it now, $35 out the door, lifetime tag, but per the law, only allowed to drive unrestricted on Saturday and Sunday. Otherwise, and depending on what department stops you, better have a good story. I got hassled by a trooper on a Saturday in the 83 pickup and had to educate him on the regs. And while most of the rural departments around could care less, the "hot fuzz" folks in Brentwood and Franklin dont have much else to do other than pull folks over for having a DRL out... Yeah, I got that talk too one morning, so I'd rather just get a regular tag so as to not have to worry with it. Plus I dont want Erin to have to have to come up with a line on the spot if she wants to tool around town in it.

@LDowney thanks for the diagram. I found something similar on the SOR site, so that helps confirm it. Now I just need to wait a week and call the clerks office to see how this deal needs to go down. Guessing I'll still have to run it thru the emissions line, but not sure how they will handle it. The 97 ford confused them since it was still obd1 but post 95. Like most thinks, I'm probably over thinking it, but would like to be able to just roll in, have my paperwork and leave with a tag.

Isn’t one of the things with antique tags, being driven for regular maintenance and upkeep..... rock antique tags and go!

Long as I lived there no issues with mine.

Time for the '78 to get a little love

I should not be left unsupervised...

In my defense, the Saginaw box is leaking and I got to get all this out of the way to get to it...

Yay for rabbit holes....

Brite side, now would be a good time to swap the split hood and uncut fenders from the pile on.... Just have to find some blue for the rest so it doesnt look too janky driving around til I can get to the rest of the tub

Hey Gents. I just spent the better part of an hour fixing my password. I guess it’s been a little while.

I emailed Grogan earlier and would appreciate any help.

I’m in the market finally and would appreciate any leads.

Truck wish list:
76 or newer
Color: sky blue, green or tan
Hard top
Little or no mods (maybe small lift and tires)

This is for the kids and I to fish, occasionally drive to work and tinker on.

I’m willing to pay more for a complete rig than one needing a lot of work.

Past 2 years summarized: got home from Syria, wife left, it’s me and the kids so.... yeah.

This truck is for us to start building good memories again. God has blessed us incredibly but when my son asked about “the old blue truck” (my 71) I knew it was time. He has kept at it for over 2 months so..... here I am.

Cheers

John
