The third annual Lowcountry Boil will be held again this year at Carolina Beach.

Registration is $35.00 each, and includes both Friday and Saturday nights meals. (kids are free)

There will be camping on the beach, fishing, crabbing, shrimping, kayaking, swimming, and a raffle Sat. after supper.:bounce:

Other things to do in the area include Historic Ft. Fisher, the NC Aquarium, and resturants close by.:bounce2:

We will plan to meet at Sparks Toyota in Myrtle Beach at 10:00am and convoy to the ferry to take us across to Ft. Fisher.
Should put us on the beach by 1:00 when we can set up camp and start the days activities.:hhmm:

T-shirts will be available for $15.00:D

Payment plans will be worked out very soon. :o

Cool! I'll be there Saturday morning with Buster! =-)

Any Early Arivials?

Anyone want to try to get there early? Last year the weather was sketchy so we did not have trouble setting up camp at the end around the corner.

That may not be the case this year...it is the best spot if someone could get there early and stake our claim???:hhmm:

My work schedule does not allow for planning that far in advance (anymore). If I can cut out early and do it I will, but wont know until the week of the boil.

let us know

Thanks

i'm interested...if the wife can get some PTO approved at the hospital. Last year in oct the pig flu was all the rage and they didn't let any nurses of from sept-feb due to such a high demand for pig flu shots. They call it H1N1 but to me it's still the pig

so will camping be literally "on" the beach? and does registration cover the cost of campsite?

Camping is on the beach. You pay for a vehicle access permit to drive on the beach. Not sure if the $35 covers the permit or not.

Jeremy

I doubt it. Last year we had to buy a permit at the gate and a receipt goes in your windshield. Patroling Rangers will be looking for the receipt in your windshield. IIRC it was $20/day/vehicle (not persons). Someone chime in if they can correct me.

i googled it and got no results on info for a camping ground other than the airforce campground.

You just camp on th ebeach, first come first serve. You buy a vehicle permit to be on th ebeach with your truck, and jsut camp. We will have the campsite covered. If you want toilets, water and showers there is a State Park about 15-20 minutes from us. However you will miss out on some of the events by having to stay off the beach.

Freeman Park- $20 per day or $60 per year http://www.carolinabeach.org/ site_new/pages/freeman_park. html
Passes may be purchased at park entrance(or other local kiosks) or you can go to link above and submit form per instructions by mail ahead of time. Fire rings are required if building fire. Must not be over 3 feet in diameter and only natural fire wood may be burned, no refuse/trash, garbage or building materials. If bonfire desired a permit from city must be obtained in advance. Pets must be on leash at all times through 30 Sep 09. Please review local ordnance.

Southport Ferry Rates and Schedule $5 per vehicle unless over 20' long then it is $10 http://www.southporttimes.com/ southportferry.html
Those wanting to convoy to ferry or cross as a group should meet in Myrtle Beach no later than 8am at SPARKS TOYOTA on Hwy501. We will depart NLT 8:20am for Southport Ferry to arrive by 10:00am and ensure we are able to cross as a group.

Consider bringing suntan lotion, bug spray, and basic first aid and sanitary items with you while camping on beach. Also, include garbage bags so that we can take with us everything we brought onto the beach plus more if needed.

This was in last years thread....

Wow, they must have had an old link up for rates. It had $40 for season pass. Then they went to $60, now $100. Gawd dang, that's crazy!

So for 2 people someone would be looking at $35 ea. for food and raffle, and $40 for 2 day vehicle pass. $110 for some good food, and nice beach camping ain't bad for a weekend. Where else you gonna go for the weekend for $110?

Season passes are now $100.

Payment plans will be worked out very soon. :o

You could get up with Lenny and ask him to do a boil webpage and registration page. That way you can keep everything the same year after year.

Just saying.

HEADS UP !!! Those are the same dates as Southern Cruiser Crawl!!

I'll be in Hatteras a couple days before that...I might have to tag along. I'll feel more at home on the sand!!!!!

If so I could ride out and stake our claim!!!

sounds cool. The wifey will know a little more in a few days (possibly a job change in her near future) and we will see if she can get off.

I'm off Friday and Monday. Jeri is thinking about calling in sick on Friday, if so I could come down Thursday night or late Friday morning.
Or did you mean earlier than that? In that case we can't help.

the wife is putting in her two week notice at the hospital today, getting ready to start her new job as a school nurse. She goes in to hammer out details next week and is going to see if she can get off that friday.

I was thinking of heading down there that thur after work and staying in a hotel for the night so we don't have to wake up at the crack of dawn to be in MB that morning.

Are there any hotels in MB that give discounts to mud members?
