i'm planning on leaving that Thur morning..anyone else going to get there early?
Figure with young children it will be nice to have a 4 day weekend.

If there is a particular spot to set up i'd like to know ahead of time so we don't have to move tents after we set up and you guys get down there

Last year we went to the very end around the corner at the inlet. If you could grab that area. Spread out, park your vehicle sideways, etc. So far we have have seven (tents) confirmed attendees.

Thanks!

will do...now i just need directions on how to get there!

all the way to the north end of the island where the ocean meets the inlet correct?

hmmm...instead of bringing kayaks, having the intercoastal waterway right there a boat might be a better idea :)

is there a ramp area near the camp site to put a boat in the water? I'm not familiar with this beach but being that it's fall the kayaks might not be a good idea with a 2yr old being the waters tend to be a little rough from my experience at myrtle. Sometimes making even surf fishing a chore.

I plan on bringing a few crab traps to throw in the water overnight

I really need to get some info on what kind of fishing license i need (is intercostal considered salt?) and what are the limits on blue crab..male, female, size?

Depends on where you are along the ICW whether it is salt or not. This particular part is because it is close to the ocean.

Check the thread in the LC forum, I just posted some info that might help you plan.

Don't forget to bring a fire ring if you want a fire, and remember it's beach camping, so plan accordingly.

Expect some wind and possibly cold nights. It also likes to rain a lot on the coast, but we haven't seen much lately. Probably waiting until the weekend of the boil.:bounce:

fire might be cool...will see if i can snag any cut out rims for a small fire and pick up some firewood.

can you link me to the LC forum...i'm not too familiar with this site outside here, the classifieds and fj60 forum.

I've got a portable fire pit. Bring the wood.

Still have room if anyone wants in.

I'll probably head down to be there sometime Friday morning, maybe late Thurs night to help stake out some territory.

hey bill, i'll PM you my number.

I'm leaving greenville early thur morning to get there in the afternoon.

I'm in the silver fj60 you passed doing about 80mph on the highway to bonnaroo outside Chatanooga!

Bonnie gets a little carried away when she starts smelling music.
PM sent.

Everyone bring a couple of sticks of wood each; rather than load one vehicle down. (if you have some laying around)

Thanks

I'm planning to head that way Thursday afternoon. Parking the boat somewhere then will catch up with you guys.

There's a public landing just across the water from where we'll be camping. It has a laarrge parking lot.
Go left after you cross the Snow's Cut Bridge onto 'Pleasure Island' (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Ft Fisher) and work your way east along the ICW cut. You'll find it.
Looking forward to seeing you Dave, been too long.
The bandaids still haven't healed Bonnies boo-boos.

the trip was a blast, sucked moving camp 3 times....would have sucked less if i didn't have so much crap to pack.

Will definately be leaving the kayaks behind and bringing the boat next year.

i hope some of these guys can post a few more pics. I neglected as usual to even bring a camera.
