2F - rebuild...

I know I used four different "installation tools," meaning four different diameters.

But that doesn't matter anymore. I'm definitely having the engine builder install the bearings before I mess them up again… 🙈🙈
You need to take a little more off of the part of your tool that holds the bearing to accommodate for the "crush fit" that occurs when they are installed. But I'm just an internet stranger and I don't want you to ruin anymore bearings! Leave it to the pros.

Well you almost had it right. The guys that know their $hit got to where they are by making mistakes and learning from them. You will know better the next time.

An old timer I used to work for had a saying every time something went wrong...."I learn something new every single day....whether I want to or not."

@Landcruiserfj45 I looked into the tools required for cam bearing replacement and made the same choice - let a knowledgeable machine shop do that job. I didn’t even try!

My engine rebuild process had a lot of drama and I ended up have two different shops replace the cam bearings three times. The last time finally worked.

Hi everyone,

I went to the hardware store yesterday and bought some taps.

And today I cut the threads... 😎✌️

Hi,

The postman came today. He brought the screws I ordered.

I specifically ordered three different lengths so that the entire thread would be filled.

I'll screw in the right screw with Loctite tomorrow after work...✌️😎

Can you fit the two shorter screws into the threads, one on top of the other?

I contacted Deltacam and already received a reply.
Those prices are not bad, and you should always get your lifters reground when you have the cam done...

I know that the lifters always need to be reground when the camshaft is ground.

I'm just not sure if my old lifters are still good enough and if I should just buy new ones...🤔🤷

I would trust Delta to look at my old lifters and tell me what they need

I'm sure they will tell you if they are shot, before charging you to re-grind them. I doubt you can buy new ones for $7

I think they’re like $35+ apiece. That adds up when you multiply it by 12!

I know, new original lifters are quite expensive, and 12 of them aren't exactly a bargain...🫣
I don’t want to talk about what I paid for new old stock pistons for my rebuild…

I'm definitely sending my old lifters to Deltacam and hoping they can still salvage them.

I don't think my lifters look so good anymore.

From above, some of them look like someone shot them with a shotgun… 🤔🫣🤷

Yes that side's important as well but the bottom where it rides on the cam is even more. That's where they will grind/fix it
